§ 9.24

This chapter 9.24 of the Tracy Municipal Code may be referred to as the "City Code for the Abatement of Dangerous Buildings," and is adopted pursuant to Government Code section 50022.2. For purpose of clarity, the term "Code," when used alone, shall refer to the Tracy Municipal Code.

The purpose of this chapter is to provide a just, equitable, and practicable method, to be cumulative with and in addition to any other remedy provided by title 9 of this Code, or otherwise available by law, whereby buildings or structures which from any cause endanger life, limb, health, morals, property, safety, or welfare of the general public or their occupants may be required to be repaired, vacated, or demolished. The purpose of this chapter is not to create or otherwise establish or designate any particular class or group of persons who will or should be especially protected or benefitted by the terms of this chapter.

9.24.030 - Adoption by reference of the Uniform Code for the Abatement of Dangerous Buildings.

The City hereby adopts by reference the code entitled "1997 Uniform Code for the Abatement of Dangerous Buildings," published by the International Conference of Building Officials (hereinafter "Uniform Code for the Abatement of Dangerous Buildings"), as amended by this chapter. The Uniform Code for the Abatement of Dangerous Buildings is on file with the City Clerk, and is available for inspection and copying in accordance with Government Code section 50022.6.

Uniform Code for the Abatement of Dangerous Buildings section 203, Violations, is amended by deleting the text of section 203, and replacing it with the following:

(a) Violations of this chapter shall be enforced by the City in accordance with Tracy Municipal Code section 9.02.040.
