§ 17.205.010. Purpose and intent. ¶
The purpose and intent of this chapter is to regulate cannabis uses in a manner that protects the health, safety and welfare of the community. This chapter is not intended to interfere with a patient's right to medical cannabis in California pursuant to the Compassionate Use Act of 1996 (Proposition 215), found at Health and Safety Code Section 11362.5 , nor does it criminalize cannabis possession or cultivation by specifically defined classifications of persons, pursuant to state law. This chapter is not intended to give any person independent legal authority to grow or use cannabis; it is intended simply to impose zoning restrictions on certain cannabis uses when those uses are authorized by California State law.
