§ 2.07.010. Purpose.¶
The purpose of this Ordinance is to encourage qualified candidates to seek public office by placing limitations upon the number of consecutive terms which may be served by members of the City Council and the Mayor.

§ 2.07.020. Term limits.¶
Neither the Mayor nor any member of the City Council shall serve in the same office for more than three consecutive terms. For purposes of this chapter, the office of Mayor and the office of City Councilmember are distinct offices. At any municipal election after the expiration of two years following said consecutive elective terms, a former Councilmember or Mayor may again seek election to City Council or as Mayor.

§ 2.07.030. Applicability to partial terms.¶
For purposes of applying this chapter, any time in office served for a partial term, whether appointed or elective, shall not be considered. A partial term shall include any term commencing before the general municipal election to be held on November 4, 1997.
