§6300: General Penalty Provisions; Confinement In City Jail

Except where a different penalty or punishment is prescribed by any ordinance of this City or by any law of this State, every offense declared to be a misdemeanor or public offense by the ordinances of this City shall be punishable by imprisonment for not exceeding six (6) months, or by fine not exceeding five hundred dollars ($500.00), or by both such fine and imprisonment. Imprisonment shall be in the City jail of the City unless confinement in the County jail is requested by the police authorities of the City.
