11.02.010 - Traffic signs, signals and markings—Authority.

Pursuant to the authority contained in Section 21351 of the California Vehicle Code, the board of supervisors shall place and maintain, or cause to be placed and maintained such traffic signs, signals and other traffic-control devices upon streets and highways, as required or authorized by the California Vehicle Code, or as may be necessary to properly indicate and to carry out the provisions of the vehicle code or the County Code, or to warn or guide traffic.

11.02.020 - Director of public works duties with regard to traffic signs, signals and markings.

A. The director of public works, acting under the authority of the board of supervisors, is empowered to install, operate and maintain traffic signs, signals and markings, as required or authorized by the California Vehicle Code, or as may be necessary to properly indicate and to carry out the provisions of the Vehicle Code or the county code, or to warn or guide traffic.

B. Authority to set speed limits, declare through highways and establish stop signs is reserved for action by the board of supervisors.
