9-6-1: APPLICATION TO BICYCLE OR ANIMAL RIDERS:

Every person riding a bicycle or riding or driving an animal upon a highway has all of the rights and shall be subject to all of the duties applicable to the driver of a vehicle by this Title, except those provisions which by their very nature can have no application. (Ord. 651-97, 2-18-1997)

9-6-2: TRAFFIC-CONTROL SIGNS REQUIRED:

No provision of the Vehicle Code or of this Code for which signs are required shall be enforced against an alleged violator unless appropriate legible signs are in place giving notice of such provisions of the traffic laws. (Ord. 651-97, 2-18-1997)

9-6-3: UNAUTHORIZED CURB PAINTING:

No person, unless authorized by the City, shall paint any street or curb surface; provided, however, that this Section shall not apply to the painting of numbers on a curb surface by any person who has complied with the provisions of any resolution or ordinance of the City pertaining thereto. (Ord. 651-97, 2-18-1997)

9-6-4: CROSSWALK USE REQUIRED:

(A) When within a business district, no pedestrian shall cross a roadway other than by a crosswalk.

(B) Outside of a business district no pedestrian shall cross a roadway other than by route at right angles to the curb and when crossing at any place other than a crosswalk, shall yield the right of way to all vehicles upon the roadway.

(C) It shall be unlawful for any person to be in any roadway other than in a safety zone or crosswalk, provided that this provision shall not be construed to prevent the necessary use of a roadway by a pedestrian.

(D) It shall be unlawful for any person to stand in a roadway for the purpose of or while soliciting a ride from the operator of any vehicle. (Ord. 651-97, 2-18-1997)
