2.24.010 - Recognized—Functions.

The police reserve is recognized and officially established in the city as a voluntary municipal organization for the training of auxiliary police officers, to assist the city police department, and to perform all the civil defense duties and functions assigned to policemen and to the police department of the city under the civil defense ordinances of the city and the laws of the state relating to civil defense, within the limits and under the rules and regulations established by the police department. It shall operate as a unit of the police department of the city, under the control of the chief of police.

2.24.020 - Number of members.

The maximum number of police reserve officers is set at 25 and such number may from time to time be changed by resolution of the city council in response to the changing needs of the police reserve program.

2.24.030 - Membership—Qualifications.

Before anyone can become a member of the police reserve, his membership must be recommended by the chief of police and approved by the city manager. Further, each member must take the official oath of office and loyalty oath, in writing, prescribed by the laws of the state.
