Sec. 2-13.01. - Office of Assistant County Counsel Established.¶
There is hereby created the position of Assistant County Counsel.

Sec. 2-13.02. - Appointment and removal.¶
The Assistant County Counsel shall be appointed by the County Counsel and serve as an at-will employee, and therefore at the pleasure of the County Counsel; provided, however, the Assistant County Counsel shall have not less than fifteen (15) days' notice in writing of the County Counsel's intention to remove him or her before such a removal shall become final. During such fifteen (15) days, he or she may be suspended or relieved of his or her duties by the County Counsel.

Sec. 2-13.03. - Powers and duties.¶
Under the supervision of the County Counsel, the Assistant County Counsel shall have the following powers and duties:
(a) Assist the County Counsel in the interpretation of laws, court decisions, ordinances, and documents; advise the officials of County legal matters; draft ordinances, contracts, resolutions, and other legal documents; prepare written legal opinions; conduct negotiations with other attorneys on matters in dispute and arrange settlements; prepare complaints, appear in court proceedings and otherwise defend or prosecute cases on behalf of the County; prepare and conduct any and all adversarial administrative matters, all as generally supervised and directed by the County Counsel; and
(b) Handle any and all other matters which may be assigned by the County Counsel.

Sec. 2-13.04. - Salary.¶
The salary of the Assistant County Counsel shall be as set by the Board.

Sec. 2-13.05. - Deputy County Counsels.¶
All Deputy County Counsels shall also be appointed by the County Counsel and serve as at-will employees, and therefore at the pleasure of the County Counsel; provided, however, that such deputies shall also have not less than fifteen (15) days' notice in writing of the County Counsel's intention to remove him or her before such a removal shall become final. During such fifteen (15) days, the so notified Deputy County Counsel may be suspended or relieved of his or her duties by the County Counsel.
