Sebastopol Municipal Code Ch. 15.46 Moving of Buildings and Other Structures

No building shall be moved from one location to another within the City of Sebastopol or through said City until a statement setting forth the purpose of said removal, the route proposed to be followed in such moving and the uses to which said building is to be applied is filed with the Engineering Department of the City of Sebastopol and until a permit from the City of Sebastopol has been obtained.

Application shall be made to the City of Sebastopol for a permit in accordance with this chapter and the provisions of the Uniform Building Code then in force in the City of Sebastopol and in accordance with such other ordinances and regulations as established by the City Council of the City of Sebastopol.

The applicant shall provide the City of Sebastopol with sufficient evidence of public liability insurance in the amount of $100,000 for one occurrence and $300,000 for more than one occurrence, which said insurance shall protect the City from liability by reason of the acts of applicant and shall hold the City harmless against any and all claims, by reason of the acts of applicant. In addition, applicant shall provide insurance in the amount of $10,000 for any property damage to third persons of the City of Sebastopol.

The applicant shall provide the City with evidence that applicant has received clearance from such public utility agencies within the City of Sebastopol as shall be affected by applicant’s move.

Upon receipt of the aforesaid requirements and the payment of such fees as required by the said code, a permit may be issued to applicant which said permit shall designate the route over which the same may be moved, the time allowed for the moving thereof and the time of said moving.

Any person violating the provisions of this chapter shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and upon conviction thereof shall be fined in an amount not exceeding $500.00 or be imprisoned for a period not exceeding 90 days or by both such fine and imprisonment.

Ordinance No. 155 pertaining to the regulation of the moving of buildings within the City of Sebastopol and all amendments thereto and any other ordinance or ordinances in conflict with this chapter are hereby repealed.
