Sec. 2-64. - Sale at public auction.¶
Pursuant to the provisions of Civil Code section 2080.4, the sheriff of the county is authorized to dispose of any unclaimed bicycles which have been in his possession for at least three months, and for any other unclaimed property which has been in possession for at least three months, by transferring the same to the county purchasing department for sale to the public at public auction as provided by law. If the county purchasing agent determines that any property transferred to him is needed for a public use by the county, such property may be retained by the county and need not be sold.

Sec. 2-65. - Bicycles and toys to be given to probation officer.¶
Pursuant to the provisions of Welfare and Institutions Code, section 217, any unclaimed bicycles or toys, or both, in the possession of the sheriff for a period of at least three months may, at the discretion of the sheriff, and instead of being sold at public auction to the highest bidder, be turned over to the probation officer of the county for use by him/her in any program or activities designed to prevent juvenile delinquency.

Sec. 2-66. - Property not sold to be destroyed or given away.¶
All property not sold at public auction may be destroyed or otherwise disposed of by the purchasing department.

Sec. 2-67. - Disposition of proceeds from auction.¶
All proceeds from the auction shall be paid to the county treasurer for credit to the general fund.

Sec. 2-68. - Disposition of personal property saved or found on county property.¶
The County of Santa Barbara shall be governed by Civil Code section 2080.6 with respect to the disposition of personal property, exclusive of money, found or saved on property subject to the county's jurisdiction. The sale or other disposition of said personal property shall be by the purchasing agent of the county as provided by Civil Code section 2080.6 and sections 25500 et seq. of the Government Code. Unclaimed money found or saved on property subject to the jurisdiction of Santa Barbara County or in the custody of an officer of the county shall be delivered to the county treasurer for disposition pursuant to sections 50050 et seq. of the Government Code.
