2.48.010 CREATION—POWERS—DUTIES.

The Department of Public Works is created. It shall perform the functions of engineering, maintenance and traffic and shall have such powers and duties as may from time to time be prescribed by the Council or City Manager. It shall consist of the Director of Public Works and such assistants as may from time to time be approved by the Council provided that three of such assistants shall be: the assistant city engineer; the superintendent of maintenance; and the traffic engineer.

2.48.020 DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC WORKS.

The Director of Public Works shall be appointed by the City Manager and be the head of the Department of Public Works and shall have such powers and duties as may from time to time be prescribed by the Council or City Manager.

2.48.025 CITY ENGINEER—DEFINED.

For purposes of this Code, "City Engineer" shall mean the Director of Public Works or his or her designee.

For purposes of this Code, "Superintendent of Streets" means the Director of Public Works or his or her designee.
