2.26.010 ORGANIZATION.¶
The sustainability commission of the City shall consist of five members appointed by the City Council.Each member of the sustainability commission shall serve at the pleasure of the City Council and for a term of four years or until the appointment of a successor, except that the initial terms of the first members appointed shall be determined by lot at their first meeting so that each year one or more terms will expire.
2.26.020 MEETINGS.¶
The sustainability commission shall meet within one month of its formation and establish itself by electing a chairperson and vice chairperson to serve at the pleasure of the commission. The sustainability commission may adopt reasonable rules and regulations for the conduct of its business. A regular time and place of meetings shall be established and adhered to in the manner of holding public meetings for legislative bodies in the state. All meetings shall be open to the public unless by law otherwise provided.
2.26.030 POWERS—DUTIES.¶
It shall be the duty of the sustainability commission, as an advisory body to the City Council, to advise on its own initiative, or as requested by the City Council, on policies related to sustainability, including matters related to the environmental, social, and economic needs of the City of San Mateo.The sustainability commission may make recommendations to any other board or commission of the City with respect to any action the sustainability commission believes should be taken or upon which it has been requested to advise.The sustainability commission shall possess other such powers and duties as may be prescribed from time to time by resolution of the City Council.
