San Joaquin County Municipal Code Ch. 2 Speed Limits

The Board of Supervisors of the County, pursuant to Section 22358 of the Vehicle Code, having determined, upon the basis of an engineering and traffic survey, that the otherwise applicable speed limits are more than is reasonable or safe upon the portions of the county highways described in this chapter, does hereby determine and declare the prima facie speed limits set forth in this chapter as more reasonable and appropriate to facilitate the safe and orderly movement of traffic. These prima facie limits shall become effective only after appropriate signs giving notice thereof are erected upon the highway.

It shall be unlawful to operate any vehicle in excess of the prima facie speed limit of thirty (30) miles per hour upon the following described portions of the county highways:

(1) Morada Land from State Highway U.S. 99 and 50 easterly approximately 4,965 feet, more or less, to its end.

(2) Hildreth Lane from State Highway U.S. 99 and 50 easterly and northeasterly approximately 6,400 feet, more or less, to a point that is approximately 248 feet northeast of the center line of Canepa Road, a county road.

(3) Shippee Lane from State Highway U.S. 99 and 50 easterly approximately 4,680 feet to its intersection with Alhambra Road (Central California Traction Company right-of-way) a county road.

(4) Repealed by 3265.

(5) Clark Drive, beginning at the east right-of-way line of South 99 East Frontage Road, thence in an easterly direction along Clark Drive to its end, for a distance of 3,580 feet, more or less.

(6) Lincoln Road, beginning at the west right-of-way line of Caran Avenue and thence running in a westerly direction along Lincoln Road, a distance of 596 feet, more or less, to the city limits line of the City of Stockton.

(7) Country Club Boulevard, beginning at the west right-of-way line of Delano Avenue and thence running in an easterly direction along County Club Boulevard, a distance of 215 feet, more or less, to the city limits line of the City of Stockton.

(8) Eighth Street, beginning at the West right-of-way line of "D" Street and thence running in a westerly direction along Eighth Street, a distance of 2,264 feet, more or less, to the city limits line of the City of Stockton.

(10) Neugebauer Road, beginning at the north right-of-way line of McDonald Road, thence in a north and easterly direction along Neugebauer Road to the west right-of-way line of Holt Road for a distance of 3.5 miles, more or less.

(11) Fulton Street, that portion beginning at the west line of the Western Pacific Railroad Company 100-foot wide right-of-way, said line also being the Stockton city limits line, thence in an easterly direction along Fulton Street to the west right-of-way line of West Lane, for a distance of 1,127 feet, more or less.

(13) Cherokee Road, that portion beginning at the west right-of-way line of Sanguinetti Lane, said line also being the Stockton city limits line, thence in a northwesterly direction along Cherokee Road for a distance of 5,700 feet, more or less.

(16) That portion of ALPINE AVENUE beginning at the west right-of-way line of the Western Pacific Railroad, said line also being the City Limits Line of the City of Stockton, thence in an easterly direction along Alpine Avenue to the west right-of-way line of the Southern Pacific Railroad for a distance of 1,575 feet, more or less.

(17) That portion of BIRD AVENUE beginning at the south right-of-way line of Marsh Street, thence in a southerly direction along Bird Avenue to the north right-of-way line of Main Street for a distance of 2,150 feet, more or less.

(18) That portion of DUDLEY ROAD beginning at the northeasterly right-of-way line of French Camp Road, thence in an easterly direction along Dudley Road to its most easterly end.

(19) That portion of McAllen Road beginning at the west right-of-way line of the Southern Pacific Railroad Company 100-foot-wide right-of-way, said line also being the Stockton City Limits line; thence in an easterly direction along McAllen Road to a point that is 500 feet east of Holman Road, for a distance of 5,200 feet, more or less.

(20) That portion of Rio Blanco Road beginning at a point that is 2,500 feet south of the south right-of-way line of Eight Mile Road, thence in a southerly and easterly direction along Rio Blanco Road to Disappointment Slough Bridge for a distance of 3,100 feet, more or less.

(21) That portion of Stearman Drive beginning at the easterly right-of-way line of Bernard Drive, thence in a easterly direction along Stearman Drive to the westerly right-of-way line of Stearman Court.

(22) That portion of Stearman Court beginning at the southerly right-of-way line of Vernalis Road, thence in a southerly direction along Stearman Court to its southerly end.

(23) That portion of Brichetto Court beginning at the southerly right-of-way line of Stearman Drive, thence in a southerly direction along Brichetto Court to its southerly end.

(24) That portion of Bernard Drive beginning at the southerly right-of-way line of Vernalis Road, thence in a southerly direction along Bernard Drive to its southerly end.

(25) That portion of Eight Mile Road beginning at a point that is 1,500 feet west of the right-of-way line of Atherton Road, thence running easterly along Eight Mile Road a distance of 3,000 feet, more or less.

(26) That portion of Swain Road, beginning at the east right-of-way line of Harrisburg Place, thence running westerly along Swain Road to the easterly right-of-way line of Plymouth Road for a distance of 4,700 feet, more or less.

(27) That portion of Alexandria Place, beginning at the south right-of-way line of Benjamin Holt Drive, thence running southerly along Alexandria Place to the north right-of-way line of Swain Road for a distance of 2,100 feet, more or less.

(28) That portion of McDonald Road beginning at a point that is on the south end of Neugebauer Road, thence running southerly along McDonald Road a distance of 7,200 feet, more or less.

(29) That portion of Austin Road, beginning at the point that is 500 feet south of the south right-of-way line of Moffat Boulevard, thence running northerly along Austin Road to a point 500 feet north of the north right-of-way line of Frontage Road, for a distance of 3,000 feet, more or less.

(30) That portion of Woodbridge Road, beginning at a point that is 500 feet west of the west right-of-way line of North Highway 99 Frontage Road West, thence running easterly along Woodbridge Road to a point that is 500 feet east of the east right-of-way line of North Highway 99 Frontage Road East, for a distance of 2,000 feet, more or less.

(31) That portion of Peltier Road, beginning at a point that is 500 feet west of the west right-of-way line of North Highway 99 Frontage Road West, thence running easterly along Peltier Road to a point that is 500 feet east of the east right-of-way line of North Highway 99 Frontage Road East, for a distance of 2,000 feet, more or less.

(32) That portion of Woodson Road and Jahant Road, beginning at a point on Woodson Road that is 500 feet west of the west right-of-way line of North Highway 99 Frontage Road West, thence running easterly along Woodson Road and Jahant Road to a point on Jahant Road that is 500 feet east of the east right-of-way line of North Highway 99 Frontage Road East, for a distance of 2,100 feet, more or less.

(33) That portion of Collier Road, beginning at a point that is 500 feet west of the west right-of-way line of North Highway 99 Frontage Road West, thence running easterly along Collier Road to a point that is 500 feet east of the east right-of-way line of North Highway 99 Frontage Road East, for a distance of 2,200 feet, more or less.

It shall be unlawful to operate any vehicle in excess of the prima facie speed limit of thirty-five (35) miles per hour upon the following described portions of the county highways:

(1) Pacific Avenue between the north line of Swain Road and a point four hundred thirty-seven (437) feet north of the north line of Porter Avenue of Rosemar Manor in both north-bound and south-bound lanes.

(2) Escalon-Bellota Road from a point one thousand eight hundred forty-one (1,841) feet south of the intersection of the centerline of State Highway Sign Route 4 with the Escalon-Bellota Road, said point being approximately one hundred seven (107) feet south of the south end of the existing bridge over Little John's Creek; thence northerly through the Town of Farmington to a point five hundred fifty-nine (559) feet north of the intersection of the centerline of State Highway Sign Route 4 with the Escalon-Bellota Road, said point being approximately one hundred twenty (120) feet south of the south end of the existing bridge over the south fork of Duck Creek, for a total length of two thousand four hundred (2,400) feet.

(3) That portion of West Lane located within the unincorporated area of San Joaquin County between University Avenue and a point seven hundred fifty (750) feet north of Bianchi Road.

(5) Micke Grove Road No. 6812, from the southerly right-of-way of Armstrong Road and running thence southerly to its end.

(6) Beyer-Darrigo Lane No. 3294, from the northerly right-of-way of State Sign Route 8 and running thence northerly to the southerly right-of-way of State Sign Route 88.

(7) Collier Road No. 4065, from the west edge of the west U.S. 99 and 50 Frontage Road and running thence westerly, a distance of 1,400 feet.

(8) That portion of Grant Line Road beginning at a point that is 600 feet easterly of the intersection of the centerline of the Southern Pacific Railroad Company right-of-way with the centerline of Grant Line Road, thence in a westerly direction along Grant Line Road, a distance of 2,700 feet, more or less.

(10) Grant Line Road between the Tracy Road and Holly Drive.

(11) Manteca Road from the city limits of Manteca to a point 360 feet north of Louise Avenue.

(13) That portion of Country Club Boulevard within the unincorporated area of San Joaquin County from the west line of Oregon Avenue to Rainier Avenue.

(14) That portion of Kettleman Lane within the unincorporated area of San Joaquin County from a point 475 feet east of the centerline of U.S. Highway 99, running thence in an easterly direction for a distance of 315 feet.

(15) That portion of Hammer Lane within the unincorporated area of San Joaquin County, beginning at a point at the City limit line of the City of Stockton 302.84 feet west of the west right-of-way line of Pacific Avenue and running westerly 1353.16 feet more or less to a point 313.22 feet west of the centerline of Pershing Avenue, said point also being on the City limit line of the City of Stockton.

(16) That portion of MacArthur Drive within the unincorporated area of San Joaquin County, beginning at a point on the centerline of Linne Road and thence running in a northerly direction a distance of 1,300 feet.

(17) That portion of West Lane located within the unincorporated area of San Joaquin County between the south line of University Avenue and the city limit line of the City of Stockton approximately 400 feet north of the centerline of Fulton Avenue.

(18) That portion of Cherryland Avenue, beginning at the northerly right-of-way line of California State Highway 88, thence extending northerly to the southerly right-of-way line of Cherokee Road, for a distance of 3,455 feet more or less.

(20) That portion of Castle Road, beginning at the north right-of-way line of Northland Road, thence extending north along said Castle Road for a distance of 3,500 feet, more or less.

(22) A portion of Pacific Avenue from a point on the City limits line of the City of Stockton, also being an extension of the north line of Unit No. 2 of Rosemar Manor and thence running northerly a distance of approximately 2,300 feet, more or less, to the City limits line of the City of Stockton, also being the extension of the south right-of-way line of Lincoln Road.

(23) That portion of Sanguinetti Lane, beginning at the northerly right-of-way line of Cherokee Road, thence extending northerly to the southerly right-of-way line of Wilson Way, for a distance of 3,445 feet more or less.

It shall be unlawful to operate any vehicle in excess of the prima facie speed limit of fifty (50) miles per hour upon the following described portions of the county highways:

(1) That portion of Cherokee Lane (old State Highway U.S. No. 99 and 50) in the vicinity of the City of Lodi, beginning at a point 3,000 feet southerly of the centerline of Kettleman Lane (State Highway Route No. 12), northerly 4,335 feet to the intersection of the existing boundary line of the City of Lodi, said line being the westerly extension of the south line of Walnut Orchard Tract as said Tract is filed for record in Book of Official Maps and Plats, Volume 11, page 157, San Joaquin County Records.

(2) Repealed.

(3) That portion of West Lane located within the unincorporated area of San Joaquin County beginning at a point two thousand four hundred forty (2,440) feet north of the centerline of Fulton Avenue thence extending northerly approximately two thousand three hundred (2,300) feet to a point seven hundred fifty (750) feet north of the centerline of Bianchi Lane.

(4) That portion of Mariposa Road within the unincorporated area of San Joaquin County beginning at a point that is 390 feet east of the intersection of the centerline of U.S. 99 East Frontage Road with the centerline of Mariposa Road, said point also being on the existing City of Stockton boundary line, thence in a southeasterly direction along said Mariposa Road for a distance of 3,400 feet, more or less.

(5) That portion of Wilson Way beginning at a point on the centerline of the Stockton Diverting Canal, thence in a northeasterly direction along Wilson Way, a distance of 4,660 feet, more or less, to the California State Division of Highway, right-of-way line.

(7) That portion of El Dorado Street beginning at a point approximately 400 feet south of the centerline of Clayton Avenue and thence running northerly a distance of 2,750 feet, more or less.

(11) That portion of Mariposa Road beginning at a point that is 390 feet east of the intersection of the centerline of U.S. 99 East Frontage Road with the centerline of Mariposa Road, said point also being on the existing City of Stockton boundary line, thence in a southeasterly direction along said Mariposa Road for a distance of 5,500 feet, more or less.

(12) That portion of Lower Sacramento Road beginning at a point on the south right-of-way line of Bear Creek said point also being on the city limits line of the City of Stockton, thence in a northerly direction along Lower Sacramento Road to a point that is 500 feet northerly of the Western Pacific Railroad Crossing for a distance of 2,200 feet, more or less.

(13) That portion of Yosemite Avenue, beginning at a point located at the city limits line of the City of Manteca, which is approximately 1,320 feet west of the centerline of Watson Avenue and thence running westerly to a point that is 528 feet west of the intersection of Airport Way, more or less.

(14) That portion of French Camp Road, beginning at a point that is 61 feet west of the centerline of Airport Way thence in a northwesterly direction along French Camp Road a distance of 3,850 feet, more or less.

(2) That portion of Bacon Island Road beginning at Woodward Island Ferry thence in a northerly direction along Bacon Island Road to its most northerly end, for a distance of seven and one-half (7.5) miles, more or less.

(3) That portion of Murphy Road, beginning at a point on the north right-of-way line of Milgeo Avenue, thence in a northerly direction along Murphy Road, to a point that is 500 feet north of the north right-of-way line of Milgeo Avenue.
