Chapter 27 — HEALTHY NAIL SALON RECOGNITION PROGRAM

SEC. 27.1. GOALS.

San Francisco Administrative Code · 2025 edition · ingested 2026-07-08 · San Francisco

The purpose of this Chapter is to reduce occupational health hazards for San Francisco's nail salon workers as well as the exposure of City residents to potentially-toxic chemicals in nail products, through recognition and promotion of nail salons that voluntarily discontinue the use of nail polishes containing dibutyl phthalate, toluene, and formaldehyde, the so-called "toxic trio."

Through this Chapter, the City wishes to increase public awareness of potentially-toxic chemicals found in nail products and to encourage nail salons and nail product manufacturers to use safer alternatives.
