SEC. 20. SIGNIFICATION OF WORDS.

The following words have in this Code the signification attached to them in this Article unless otherwise apparent in the context.

SEC. 21. AUDITOR.

The word “Auditor” shall mean the Auditor and Controller of the County of San Diego.

SEC. 22. BOARD.

The word “Board” when used alone shall mean the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Diego, State of California.

The words “Building Official,” “Building Inspector,” “County Building Inspector,” “Chief Building Inspector” or “Director of Building Inspection” shall mean “Director of Planning and Development Services.”

SEC. 23. CHARTER.

The word “Charter” shall mean the Charter of the County of San Diego, State of California, as amended.

SEC. 24. CODE.

The word “Code” shall mean the Administrative Code of The County of San Diego, as enacted by this Ordinance and any and all amendments and supplements thereto and modifications thereof, unless some other code is indicated.

SEC. 25. COUNTY.

The word “County” shall mean the County of San Diego.

The words “County Counsel” shall mean the County Counsel‘s Office.

The words “County Engineer” or “County Engineer and Road Commissioner” shall mean “Director of Public Works”; the words “County Engineer Department” or “County Engineer and Road Department” shall mean “Department of Public Works.”

SEC. 26. DISTRICT ATTORNEY.

The words “District Attorney” shall mean the District Attorney’s Office.

The words “District Attorney” and the words “County Counsel” shall mean the District Attorney and County Counsel of the County of San Diego.

SEC. 27. MONTH.

The word “month” shall mean the calendar month.

SEC. 28. OFFICERS AND EMPLOYEES.

The term “officers and employees” shall include all incumbents, officers and employees and their officers, assistants, deputies and employees.

SEC. 29. SECTION.

The word “Section” means a section of this Code unless some other code, ordinance or statute is indicated.

The term “Sheriff’s Office” shall have the same meaning as the term “Sheriff’s Department”.

SEC. 30. STATE.

The word “State” means the State of California.

SEC. 31. SURVEYOR AND ROAD COMMISSIONER.

The words “Surveyor,” “Road Commissioner,” and “County Surveyor and Road Commissioner” shall mean “Director of Public Works”; the words “County Road Department,” “Road Department,” and “Surveyor and Road Department” shall mean “Department of Public Works.”

The words “Director of Transportation” shall mean “Director of Public Works” and the words “Department of Transportation” shall mean “Department of Public Works.”

The words “Director of Sanitation and Flood Control” shall mean “Director of Public Works” and the words “Department of Sanitation and Flood Control” shall mean “Department of Public Works.”

SEC. 32. SUPERVISOR.

The word “Supervisor” shall mean a member of the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Diego.

SEC. 33. YEAR.

The word “Year” shall mean the fiscal year.

SEC. 34. CONSTRUCTION.

All other words shall have the meanings determined by the laws of this State and the decisions of the Courts of this State.
