§ 12.0601 Juvenile Boys’ Ranch.

Pursuant to the provisions of Welfare and Institutions Code §§ 880—891, the Verdemont Ranch for Boys is hereby established.

Said Verdemont Ranch for Boys shall be conducted, maintained and operated in accordance with the provisions of Welfare and Institutions Code §§ 880—891.

§ 12.0602 Juvenile Hall.

Pursuant to the provisions of Welfare and Institutions Code § 889, there is hereby established at San Bernardino County Juvenile Hall an elementary public school and a secondary public school for the education of the children in said Juvenile Hall. All necessary and suitable facilities for such schools shall be provided as required by law.

Said schools established at said Juvenile Hall shall be maintained by the County Superintendent of Schools subject to the authority vested in the Board of Supervisors by law.

§ 12.0603 James T. Kuiper Youth Center.

Pursuant to Welfare and Institutions Code §§ 880—891, Kuiper Youth Center is hereby established. Said facility shall be conducted, maintained and operated in accordance with the provisions of Welfare and Institutions Code §§ 880—891 and other appropriate sections of the Welfare and Institutions Code. Said facility shall be known as the James T. Kuiper Youth Center of San Bernardino County and may be designated in court orders and other official documents as the James T. Kuiper Youth Center.

§ 12.0604 Community Responsibility Training Unit.

There is hereby created and established, pursuant to the provisions of Welfare and Institutions Code §§ 880—891, a juvenile home in and for the County of San Bernardino, State of California. Said home shall be known as the Community Responsibility Training Unit of San Bernardino County and may be designated in court orders and other official documents as the Community Responsibility Training Unit.

§ 12.0605 Administration and Personnel.

Administration and direction of the Girls’ Treatment Unit, Lightning Treatment Unit, and Community Responsibility Training Unit shall be under the management and control of the Probation Department. The Chief Probation Officer shall be the appointing authority for the superintendent or director of each such unit, by whatever title such superintendent or director may be known, and for other personnel of such units. All such personnel shall be selected and appointed pursuant to applicable Civil Service rules and regulations.

§ 12.0606 Standards for Recruitment and Training.

While receiving any State Aid pursuant to Penal Code §§ 6040 et seq., the County of San Bernardino will adhere to the standards for recruitment and training established by the Board of Corrections.

§ 12.0607 Costs of Confinement as a Condition of Probation.

(a) The provisions of Penal Code § 1203.1c shall be operative in the County of San Bernardino. The Chief Probation Officer of San Bernardino County is hereby designated as the County Officer responsible for collection of moneys ordered to be paid pursuant to Penal Code § 1203.1c. All sums collected shall be deposited in the general fund of the County.

(b) The average per-day costs of incarceration in County Jail facilities is hereby determined to be $29.52 per day.
