8.96.380 Abatement of immediately dangerous buildings or structures-General.

Notwithstanding any provisions of this chapter to the contrary, the procedures for the abatement of an immediately dangerous building or structure shall be regulated by the provisions of this article. (Prior code § 50.10.1001)

8.96.390 Abatement of immediately dangerous buildings or structures-Procedures.

Whenever the building official has inspected or caused to be inspected any building or structure and has found and determined that such building or structure is an immediately dangerous building or structure as defined in Section 8.96.120 of this chapter, the same may be summarily abated and removed by the city without compliance with the provisions of Articles IV, V, VI, VII and VIII of this chapter prior to such abatement. The building official may abate the dangerous conditions in any reasonable manner which he or she determines will eliminate the immediate threat to the health, safety and welfare of the public. Reasonable means to abate the dangerous conditions include, but are not limited to, demolition, repairing, boarding to city specifications, securing, fencing and vacating. 8.96.400 Lien or personal obligation.

The cost of abatement and removal including all reasonable administrative and engineering costs incurred by the city as a result of any action taken pursuant to this article may be assessed as a lien against the property upon which the immediately dangerous building or structure was located and may be made a personal obligation of the property owner. The recovery of said costs shall be governed by the procedures provided in Article IX of this chapter. (Prior code § 50.10.1003)
