Sacramento County Municipal Code Ch. 2.08 Clerk of Board of Supervisors

There is established in the County the position of Clerk of the Board, who shall be appointed by the County Executive and shall be under the supervision of the County Executive, subject to the approval of the Board of Supervisors, and shall be subject to removal by the County Executive in accordance with the provisions of the County Charter. The Clerk of the Board shall be the head of the Department, and in that capacity shall, subject to the control and direction of the County Executive and Assistant County Executive, carry out the duties and responsibilities of the Department and shall supervise and direct the work of the staff assigned to the Department.

There is established within County government the Office of Clerk of the Board, which shall be considered a Department of the County.

The Clerk of the Board shall act as secretary to the Board and take the minutes and correspondence thereof. The Clerk of the Board shall perform all the acts required by this chapter, or as required by general law to be performed by the County Clerk as Ex Officio Clerk of the Board, or as directed by the Board. Subject to provisions of the Charter and County ordinances, the Clerk of the Board shall have power to appoint, suspend or remove all assistants, deputies, clerks and other employees necessary to conduct the work of the Department.

The Clerk of the Board shall receive, on behalf of the Board, any and all petitions, applications and requests for the consideration of the Board, and shall file them for the Board and process them for errors.

The Clerk of the Board shall prepare the Board of Supervisors' agenda, assemble reports and such other annexes as may be on file for any cause on the agenda, and have them available for all members of the Board at its meeting.

The Clerk of the Board shall record the vote of the Board of Supervisors and issue certifications of such vote, order, resolution or act of the Board by affixing his or her signature and the seal of the Board of Supervisors upon the request of any party.

The compensation of the Clerk of the Board shall be fixed by the Board of Supervisors in the same manner and at the same time as the compensation for all other officers and employees of the County.
