15.04.010 - Compliance requirements.¶
A. All new electrical services, upgrades, alterations or electrical service restorations shall require the upgrade of electrical outlets in the building to meet current California Electrical Code GFIC requirements.
B. Unless waived by resolution of the city council, the issuance of any permit for interior work, when the total value of said alteration exceeds one thousand dollars, the following shall be required within the scope of work:
- Smoke detectors shall be upgraded to meet current California Building Code requirements.
C. Every owner, lessee, occupant, or person having charge of any property or premises within the city who maintains a violation of this title after given notice stating a reasonable time period for compliance, as determined by the building official or fire chief, is subject to prosecution as provided in Chapter 1.16 of this code.

15.04.015 - Exemptions.¶
Any mandated improvements made to buildings specifically for the purpose of complying with federal, state or local laws shall not be included in the calculation of the one thousand dollar permit value as specified in Section 15.04.010(B).
