2.06.010 - Applicability of chapter.¶
This chapter shall apply to all offices in the city of Portola which are currently elective or as may become elective, with the exception of city council member, to which office this Chapter shall not apply.

2.06.020 - Procedure for filling vacancies.¶
In the event that no persons file the papers necessary to become candidates for a particular office, the city council shall, in its sole discretion, appoint a person to fill the position. Any appointment made by the city council pursuant to this section shall comply with such laws as may be applicable to the office to be filled, including but not limited to, a requirement that the officeholder live within the city limits.

2.06.030 - Terms of office of appointees.¶
Any office filled by an appointee pursuant to this chapter shall be placed on the ballot at the next regularly scheduled election in the city at which a seat on the city council is contested. The term of the appointee shall run either until a successor is elected and qualified, or until a successor is appointed pursuant to this chapter, whichever occurs first.

2.06.040 - Compensation for holders of elective offices.¶
The compensation to be paid to holders of elective city offices shall be determined and set by resolution of the city council.
