§ 2.24.010. Office created—Powers and duties.

The office of city attorney is created. The city attorney shall have those duties specified by law, and as such shall:

  • A. Advise all city officers and officials in all legal matters pertaining to the city;

  • B. Defend and appear for the city in his or her official capacity;

  • C. Frame all ordinances and resolutions and other legal documents required by the legislative body and as requested by the city council; and

  • D. Perform other legal services as required from time to time by the city council. (Prior code § 2104)

§ 2.24.020. Appointment—Term.

The city attorney shall be appointed by the city council and shall serve at the will of the city council.
