11.28.010 Erection and maintenance of stop signs.

Whenever the traTc committee has designated and described any street or portion thereof as a through street or

any intersection at which vehicles are required to stop at one or more entrances thereto, or any railroad grade

crossing at which vehicles are required to stop, the city traTc engineer shall erect and maintain stop signs as

follows:

A stop sign shall be erected on each and every street intersecting such through street or portion thereof so

designated and at those entrances to other intersections where a stop is required and at any railroad grade

crossing so designated; provided however, stop signs shall not be erected or maintained at any entrance to an

intersection when such entrance is controlled by an oTcial traTc-control signal. Every such sign shall conform

with, and shall be placed as provided in, the Vehicle code (Ord. 858 NCS §1; prior code § 15.7.)

11.28.020 Through streets.

Those streets and parts of streets designated and described by the traTc committed are declared to be through

streets for the purposes of this chapter. (Ord. 858 NCS §1; prior code § 15.7.1(a).)

11.28.030 Entrances to intersections.

The provisions of this chapter shall also apply at one or more entrances to the intersections as such entrances and

intersections are designated and described by the traTc committee. (Ord. 858 NCS §1; prior code § 15.7.1(b).)

11.28.040 Highway railway grade crossings.

The provisions of this chapter shall apply at those highway railway grade crossings as designated and described by

the traTc committee. (Ord. 858 NCS §1; prior code §15.7.1(c).)

11.28.050 Emerging from alley, driveway or building.

The driver of a vehicle emerging from an alley, driveway or building shall stop such vehicle immediately prior to

driving onto a sidewalk or into the sidewalk area extending across any alley way or driveway. (Ord. 858 NCS §1;
