Sec. 20.02.010. - Enforcement and interpretive authority.¶
The city building official shall make all interpretation of the provisions of this title. The building official and assigned officers are authorized and directed to enforce all applicable state and local fire laws and the provisions of this title, for such purposes and shall have the power of a peace officer.

Sec. 20.02.020. - Fire and life safety inspection program.¶
(a) The city fire section shall develop and implement an annual fire and life safety inspection program to correlate with the renewal of city business license with a minimum annual fee of $25.00 per year or at an amount determined by resolution adopted by the city council.
(b) No person, firm, corporation or association shall permit any fire hazard to exist in premises or in an area under their control, or fail to take immediate action to abate a fire hazard when requested to do so by the public safety officers.
(c) This fire safety inspection program will be implemented on an annual program for all building/city business, other than single-family dwellings.

Sec. 20.02.030. - Fire hydrant outlets.¶
All fire hydrant outlets shall have National Standard Hose threads complete with bronze or plastic cap with chain attached.

Sec. 20.02.040. - Fire hydrant heads.¶
All fire hydrant heads with a single 2½-inch outlet shall be of the angle fire plug valve type, with screw or union bonnet and shall have a minimum four-inch screwed or flanged inlet. All fire hydrant heads with two 2½-inch by one four-inch outlet, one 2½-inch by one four-inch outlet or two 2½-inch outlets, shall have a minimum six-inch screwed or flanged inlet. Fire hydrants cast in two parts shall have an "O" ring gasket that provides a positive seal at the joint of the stool and hydrant head.

Sec. 20.02.050. - Fire hydrant permanent guard post.¶
Permanent guard post shall be installed where necessary to protect exposed fire hydrants as determined by the fire chief and approved by the road commissioner. When curbs are installed they shall be painted red 15 feet in either direction from the fire hydrant.

Sec. 20.02.060. - Fire hydrant types.¶
Approved fire hydrants shall be designated as super, standard, intermediate or wharfhead as follows:
(1) All super fire hydrants shall have 2½-inch outlets and one four-inch outlet. The dry barrel hydrant shall have a minimum five-inch valve opening.
(2) All standard fire hydrants shall have one 2½-inch outlet and one four-inch outlet. The dry barrel hydrant shall have a minimum five-inch valve opening.
(3) All intermediate fire hydrants shall have two 2½-inch outlets. The dry barrel hydrant shall have a minimum four-inch valve opening.
(4) All wharfhead fire hydrants shall have one 2½-inch outlet.

Sec. 20.02.070. - Fire hydrant placement.¶
Each fire hydrant shall stand plumb, set to the established grade, with the center use of the lowest outlet not less than 18 inches above the ground.
