Sec. 20.01.010. - Uniform Fire Code adopted; title and citation; applicability.¶
(a) The 1997 edition of the Uniform Fire Code, and all appendices, tables and indices thereto, except as modified by the Riverside County fire ordinance, are adopted by the city, pursuant to California Government Code section 50022.2 and section 16.08.050 of this Code.
(b) The ordinance codified in this title shall be known and may be cited as the "City Fire Ordinance." The provisions hereof shall apply to all of the incorporated areas of the city.

Sec. 20.01.020. - Interpretation and purpose.¶
(a) Except as hereinafter provided, the California Fire Code, 2013 edition (part 9, title 24, California Code of Regulations), which incorporates and amends the International Fire Code, 2012 edition, published by the ICC, including appendix chapters A, B, C, D, E, F, and G, is hereby adopted by reference as the fire code of the city for the purpose of prescribing regulations governing conditions to life and property from fire, hazardous materials or explosion. A copy of the fire code has been filed, and shall be maintained on file, in the office of the city building official for public inspection, and the fire code is adopted with the same full force and effect as though set out herein.
(b) The provisions of the above-referenced codes, chapters, standards and appendices adopted shall include any state amendments, revisions and supplements made subsequent to the adoption by reference codified in this chapter
(c) The fire code that has been adopted by reference in this title shall be known and may be cited as the "City of Perris Fire Code" or the "City Fire Code." The provisions hereof shall apply to all of the incorporated areas of the city.

Sec. 20.01.030. - Responsibility for damages.¶
The ordinance codified in this title shall not be construed to hold the city or any of its officers or employees responsible for any damage to persons or property by reason of inspection or reinspection authorized in this title or by reason of the approval or disapproval of any equipment or process authorized in this title or for any action in connection with any other official duties.

Sec. 20.01.040. - Chapter 7-A of the California Building Code, Materials and…¶
Chapter 7-A of the 2013 California Building Code, Materials and Construction Methods For Exterior Wildfire Exposure, and all appendices, tables and indexes thereto are adopted by the city.

Sec. 20.01.050. - References to officials in adopted technical codes.¶
Unless otherwise stated in this chapter, where reference is made to the duties of certain officials named within the technical codes which are adopted by reference in this chapter, then that designated official of the city who has duties corresponding to those of the named official in said technical code shall be deemed to be the responsible official insofar as enforcing the provisions of that technical code are concerned.
