Sec. 4-6.301. - Operating requirements.

Every certificate holder and driver's permit holder shall be jointly and severally responsible for the following requirements and must:

(a) Maintain, at all time, valid business licenses for the City of Pacifica;

(b) Keep an accurate, legible record of all passengers carried, the pick up and drop off points, and the date and time carried. This record must be available for up to one year for review by the Chief of Police;

(c) Keep the vehicle for hire in good mechanical condition, in a clean condition, and in compliance with any and all applicable rules and regulations;

(d) Charge only such rates as have been approved by the City;

(e) Participate in periodic testing for controlled substances and alcohol, reports the results thereof, and otherwise comply with the provisions required in California Government Code Section 53075.5 (b)(3) or successor legislation;

(f) Not permit any person to operate a vehicle for hire unless such person is authorized to operate a vehicle for hire pursuant to this chapter;

(g) Permit any police officer of the City to inspect or thoroughly examine any vehicle for hire at any time.

Sec. 4-6.302. - Ability to respond to damages required.

It is unlawful to drive or operate, or cause or permit to be driven or operated, any vehicle for hire, taxicab, bus, or rent car in the city, unless the owner thereof has obtained and maintains ability to respond in damages resulting from the ownership or operation of the vehicle as required by Vehicle Code Section 16500 and following, as amended from time to time, or successor legislation and regulation lawfully adopted pursuant thereto.
