Sec. 5-5.01. Operation of card games.

It shall be unlawful to play, maintain, or operate the game of draw poker or any other card game in the City for money, chips, tokens, or any other thing where such playing, maintenance, or operation is in a room, hall, place of business, or any public place and where a charge is made as a rental for the use of tables, chairs, cards, or any other equipment or for admission or membership fees. (§ 1, Ord. 639, eff. August 9, 1939)

Sec. 5-5.02. Advertising card games.

It shall be unlawful for any person, organization, association, club, or corporation to maintain, display, or exhibit any sign visible to any person on any sidewalk or street of the City advertising that any game can be played therein where such game is played with cards for money, chips, tokens, or any other thing. (§ 2, Ord. 639, eff. August 9, 1939)

Sec. 5-5.03. Possession of betting devices.

No person shall possess, or have the custody or control of, a book, paper, apparatus, device, or paraphernalia used or for use in receiving, taking, making, offering, laying, accepting, recording, or registering bets or purported bets upon the result or purported result of any trial or contest of skill, speed, or power between or among men or beasts. (§ 1, Ord. 945, March 18, 1953)
