Sec. 5-4.01. Police officers: Attendance.

No person shall conduct any public dance hall, dance floor, or ballroom open to the public without maintaining at his own expense at every such dance a police officer of the City, to be approved by the Police Chief or his designee. (§ 26, Ord. 1280, eff. January 1, 1958, as amended by § 4, Ord. 1320, eff. November 6, 1958, and § 6, Ord. 1670, eff. November 22, 1967)

Sec. 5-4.02. Police officers: Powers and duties.

Any police officer of the City shall have the right to enter all such places and, if, in his judgment, any dance or other proceeding is improper, such police officer shall have the right, and it shall be his/her duty, to stop the same. (§ 26, Ord. 1280, eff. January 1, 1958, as amended by § 4, Ord. 1320, eff. November 6, 1958, and § 6, Ord. 1670, eff. November 22, 1967)

Sec. 5-4.03. Hours of operation.

All such halls, clubs, or places shall close not later than 2:00 a.m. and shall not reopen earlier than 2:00 p.m. of the following afternoon. (§ 26, Ord. 1280, eff. Sec. 5-4.04. Prohibitions on crowd surfing andstage diving.

No person in charge of or assisting in the conduct of any event at a public dance hall, dance club, ballroom, or any venue public or private within the City where dancing takes place shall permit or allow any dance activities characterized by violent physical contact between and among patrons, performer or other assisting in the conduct of such event, including, but not limited to, activities where patrons or performers are suspended above the shoulders of any person for the purpose of passing or maneuvering such patrons or performers form one person to another, or activities characterized by having patrons or performers diving or leaping into a crowd of persons from stages or any other elevated platform. Such prohibited activities described above shall include, but not be limited to, activities commonly known as crowd or body surfing, or stage diving. Patrons or performers engaging in such prohibited activities shall be guilty of an infraction and subject to the penalty provisions of § 1-2.02 of this Code. (§ 1, Ord. 2703, eff. December 2, 1999)
