§ 18-8. Stopping or parking prohibited in certain locations generally. [Amended…

The Public Works Director shall appropriately sign or mark the following places and when so signed or marked no persons shall stop, stand or park a vehicle at any of such places:

  • (a) At any place within 20 feet of a crosswalk at an intersection in the Central Traffic District; except that

a bus may stop at a designated bus stop and except as modified by Subsections (c) and (d) of this section.

  • (b) Within 20 feet of the approach to any traffic signal, boulevard stop sign or official electric flashing device, and except as modified within Subsection (d) of this section.

  • (c) Within 44 feet of the southeasterly corner of the intersection of F Street and Yosemite Avenue and within 22 feet from the southwesterly corner of the intersection of F Street and Yosemite Avenue.

  • (d) Notwithstanding the provisions of Subsections (a) and (b) of this section, the City Council may, by ordinance, provide for bicycle parking only within 20 feet of a crosswalk at an intersection in the Central Traffic District and within 20 feet of the approach to any traffic signal, boulevard stop sign or official electronic flashing device.

  • (e) At any place where the Public Works Director determines that it is necessary in order to eliminate dangerous traffic hazards.

  • (f) At any place where the Public Works Director, with the review and approval of the Traffic and Business Commission, has designated specified time limits and certain times of the day.

  • (g) Commercial vehicle parking restrictions on Ackley Circle.

    • (1) It shall be unlawful for any person to park, stop, or leave standing any commercial vehicle, defined as any truck, tractor-trailer, or semi-trailer with a gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) exceeding 10,000 pounds or a length exceeding 26 feet, on Ackley Circle for a period exceeding 30 minutes, except as provided below.

    • (2) This restriction shall apply daily from 6:00 AM to 9:00 PM.

    • (3) Exceptions: Temporary parking is permitted for active loading/unloading related to events or adjacent properties, not to exceed 30 minutes, and must not obstruct traffic or parking.

    • (4) Signs shall be posted by the Public Works Department indicating these restrictions, including the definition of commercial vehicles.

§ 18-8.1. Overnight Parking Prohibited. [Amended 6-2-2025 by Ord. No. 1291]

When signs or markings are in place giving notice thereof, drivers of vehicles may not stand or park a vehicle between the hours of 2:00 a.m. and 5:00 a.m. of any day, upon any of the following streets or parts of streets:

  • (a) F Street, between the intersection of West F Street and Lambuth Avenue and the intersection of East F Street and East E Street.

  • (b) G Street, between the intersection of Wood Avenue and G Street and the intersection of Gilbert Avenue and G Street.

  • (c) Yosemite Avenue, between the intersection of B Street and Yosemite Avenue and H Street and Yosemite Avenue.

  • (d) G Street, from the intersection of First Avenue and G Street to the intersection of Sierra Avenue and G Street.

  • (e) First Avenue, from the intersection of First Avenue and East E Street to the intersection of First

Avenue and F Street.

  • (f) Second Avenue, from the intersection of Second Avenue and East E Street to the intersection of Second Avenue and G Street.

  • (g) Third Avenue, from the intersection of Third Avenue and East E Street to the intersection of Third Avenue and G Street.

  • (h) Sierra Avenue, from the intersection of Sierra Avenue and East E Street to the intersection of Sierra Avenue and G Street.

§ 18-8.2. Special bicycle parking. [Amended 6-2-2025 by Ord. No. 1291]

When authorized signs are in place giving notice thereof, bicycles only may be parked on any of the streets or portions of streets enumerated in this section:

  • (a) East E Street, south side, from the southwest corner of the intersection of East E Street and Yosemite Avenue to a point 13 feet westerly of the intersection.
