8.24.010 - Declaration on unsupervised burning.¶
During certain seasons the unsupervised burning of rubbish, rags, papers, weeds, grass, wood, refuse or other combustible materials in the unincorporated areas of the county becomes and constitutes a health, fire and safety menace to the citizens and residents thereof.

8.24.020 - Permit—Required when.¶
A. It is unlawful for any person to set fire or cause fire to be set out of doors at any time between April 1st and December 1st of any year without first obtaining a written fire permit from the constituted fire control authority within the area wherein the fire is to be set.
B. "Constituted fire control authority," referred to in subsection (A) of this section, means and is defined to be any person or organization to which the board of supervisors of the county has delegated the duty of the control of fires in the unincorporated area of the county.

8.24.030 - Exception to permit requirements.¶
The conditions specified in Section 8.24.040 shall not apply to the use of fire for land-clearing operations when the special permit for this purpose is issued by duly constituted fire control authority under the terms of Division 4, Chapter 7, Sections 4475 through 4494 of the Public Resources Code.

8.24.040 - Hours for burning—Exceptions.¶
It is unlawful for any person to set fire or cause fire to be set out of doors between April 1st and December 1st of any year between the hours of twelve noon and six a.m. of the next following day; provided, however, that the duly constituted fire control authority may specify in the permit required in Section 8.24.020 that barbecue pits, adequately built to prevent the escape of sparks or fire may be used, providing that there is clearance of at least ten feet radius, and such additional clearance as may be necessary in the area for which a permit is sought, to insure that fire will not spread to adjacent grass, brush or other inflammable vegetation or material.

8.24.050 - Suspension of burning—Conditions.¶
At any time that climatic conditions are such, in the opinion of the duly constituted fire control authority, as to create a situation that makes the control of fires hazardous, the constituted fire authority may suspend all out-of-doors burning.

8.24.060 - Enforcement authority.¶
Any duly constituted fire control officer of any fire district, or the State Division of Forestry, or any peace officer of the county, is hereby authorized to enforce the provisions of this chapter.

8.24.070 - Additional regulations.¶
Nothing in this chapter contained shall be construed as preventing any duly organized fire protection district of the county from adopting any ordinance regulating burning, containing additional or more restrictive regulations.
