SEC. 8.38.05. - Definitions.¶
Section R202 (Definitions) of the 2025 California Residential Code is amended to read as follows:
BUILDING OFFICIAL. The chief building official of the city of mountain view or other designated authority charged with the administration and enforcement of this code, or a duly authorized representative. The chief building official or duly authorized representative is empowered to enforce the provisions of this code as a law enforcement officer pursuant to Chapter 2, Article X of the City Code.
ENFORCING AGENCY. The designated department or agency as specific by statute or regulation, which, within the city limits of the city of mountain view, is the building division in the community development department of the city of mountain view.
NEWLY CONSTRUCTED (or NEW CONSTRUCTION). A newly constructed building (or new construction) includes either:
a new structure, or
any additions, alterations, or improvements to existing structures where greater than fifty (50) percent of the sum total of the following structural elements are added, removed, replaced or relocated within a 3-year period: (1) footings and foundation; (2) roof-framing; and (3) exterior walls.
TOWNHOUSE. A single-family dwelling unit constructed in a group of three (3) or more attached units in which each unit extends from the foundation to the roof and with open space on a least two (2) sides. To be defined as an R-3 occupancy, the townhouse must reside on its own separate parcel of land and shall meet the requirements of Table 706.4 of this code.
