§ 10.24.010 DESIGNATED.

(A) The use of all streets within the city is prohibited by any vehicle exceeding a gross weight of 6,000 pounds, except upon the truck routes specified in § 10.24.010(B). A vehicle in excess of 6,000 pounds up to a maximum of 14,000 pounds, including its load, may utilize the streets and portions of streets designated as truck routes. Except as otherwise provided in § 21101 et seq. and §§ 35701 et seq. of the California Vehicle Code, no vehicle in excess of 14,000 pounds, including its load, shall utilize the streets and portions of streets designated as truck routes.

(B) The specified portions of the following public streets are hereby designated as “truck routes.”

(1) Central Avenue (north frontage road along the Foothill Freeway) from the Foothill Freeway on- ramp (approximately 200 feet west of Myrtle Avenue) to Mountain Avenue;

(2) Duarte Road from the westerly city limits to the easterly city limits;

(3) Evergreen Avenue (south frontage road along the Foothill Freeway) from the Foothill Freeway off- ramp (approximately 200 feet west of Myrtle Avenue) to Mountain Avenue;

(4) Foothill Boulevard from the westerly city limits to Mountain Avenue;

(5) Huntington Drive between the westerly city limits and the easterly city limits;

(6) Mountain Avenue between Foothill Boulevard to Duarte Road;

(7) Myrtle Avenue between Huntington Drive and the southerly city limits;

(8) Peck Road from Live Oak Avenue to the southerly city limits.

§ 10.24.020 WHEN EFFECTIVE.

This chapter shall not be effective until appropriate signs are erected indicating the truck routes designated in § 10.24.010.

§ 10.24.030 VEHICLES SUBJECT TO PUBLIC UTILITIES CODE.

Section 10.24.010 shall not apply to any vehicle which is subject to the provisions of Cal. Public Utilities Code §§ 1031 to 1036, inclusive.

§ 10.24.040 VEHICLES MAKING PICKUPS OR DELIVERIES.

This chapter shall not prohibit any vehicle exceeding a gross weight of 6,000 pounds coming from an unrestricted street having ingress and egress by direct route to and from a restricted street when necessary for the purpose of making pickups or deliveries of goods, wares and merchandise from or to any building or structure located on the restricted street, or for the purpose of delivering materials to be used in the actual and bona fide repair, alteration, remodeling or construction of any building or structure upon the restricted street for which a building permit has previously been obtained.

§ 10.24.050 VEHICLES OWNED BY PUBLIC UTILITIES.

This chapter shall not apply to any vehicle owned by a public utility or a licensed contractor while necessarily in use in the construction, installation or repair of any public utility.

§ 10.24.060 IN INSTANCES OF BUILDING MOVING.

This chapter shall not apply to the moving of buildings, the regulation of which is covered by Chapter 15.24.

§ 10.24.070 CITY ENGINEER MAY ISSUE SPECIAL PERMIT IN MOVING SPECIAL EQUIPMENT.

In accordance with the applicable provisions of Cal. Vehicle Code Article 6, the City Engineer may, upon application in writing, and if good cause appears, issue a special permit in writing authorizing the applicant to operate or move a vehicle or combination of vehicles or special mobile equipment of a size or weight of vehicle or load exceeding the maximum specified in the vehicle code or in this chapter.
