Mono County Municipal Code Ch. 13.20 Regulation of Speed of Boats

13.20.010 - Definitions.

As used in this chapter:

A. "Gull Lake" means the entire surface water of that certain lake in Mono County located in Sections 14 and 15, T2S, R26E, MDB&M, commonly known and designated "Gull Lake";

B. "June Lake" means the entire surface water of that certain lake in Mono County located in Sections 1, 2, 11 and 12, T2S, R26E, MDB&M, commonly known and designated "June Lake";

C. "Lower Twin Lake" means the entire surface water of that certain lake in Mono County located in portions of Sections 32 and 33, T4N, R24E, MDB&M and Section 5, T3N, R24E, MDB&M, commonly known and designated as "Lower Twin Lake," Bridgeport; Bridgeport to distinguish from similar common usage in Mammoth Lakes area of Mono County;

D. "Silver Lake" means the entire surface water of that certain lake in Mono County located in Sections 8, 9, 16 and 17, T2S, R26E, MDB&M, more commonly known and designated "Silver Lake";

E. "Vessel," "motorboat," "owner," "legal owner," "registered owner," "person," "operate" and "undocumented vessel" shall be defined, understood and construed as these words are so defined, understood and construed in Section 651, (a) through (i), Harbors and Navigation Code, laws of the state, except that the definition of "vessel," as used in this chapter, shall not include crafts powered solely by sail.

F. "Crowley Lake" means the entire surface water of that certain lake in Mono County located in Sections 23, 26, 35, 36, T25, R29E, MDB&M, Sections 1, 2, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 22, 23, 24, 25, T3S, R29E, MDB&M, Sections 19, 30, T3S, R30E, MDB&M, commonly known and designated as "Crowley Lake."

13.20.020 - Authority for Sections 13.20.030 and 13.20.040.

The authority for Sections 13.20.030 and 13.20.040 is the Constitution of the state and the laws of this state, especially Chapter 5 (commencing at Section 650), Division 3 of the Harbors and Navigation Code, laws of the state, and more particularly Section 660(b) of said code.

13.20.030 - Speed limit on June, Gull and Silver Lakes.

No person shall operate any vessel upon the waters of June Lake, Gull Lake or Silver Lake at a speed greater than ten miles per hour.

13.20.040 - Enforcement of Sections 13.20.020 and 13.20.030.

Enforcement of Sections 13.20.020 and 13.20.030 shall be as prescribed by, and the same is herein incorporated by reference thereto as if fully set forth herein, Section 664, (a) through (i), Harbors and Navigation Code, laws of the state.

13.20.050 - Authority for Sections 13.20.060 and 13.20.070.

13.20.060 - Speed limit on Lower Twin Lake.

No person shall operate any vessel upon the waters of Lower Twin Lake at a speed greater than five miles per hour.

13.20.080 - Speed limit on Grant Lake.

No person shall operate any vessel upon the waters of Grant Lake at a speed in excess of ten miles per hour from sunrise to ten a.m.

13.20.110 - Speed limits on certain portions of Crowley Lake.

No person shall operate any vessel upon the waters of the South Landing harbor portion of Crowley Lake (Sections 24 and 25, T3S, R29E, MDB&M) at a speed greater than five miles per hour. Furthermore, no person shall operate any vessel upon the waters of the Crooked Creek portion of Crowley Lake (Sections 24 and 25, T3S, R29E, MDB&M, Sections 19 and 30, T3S, R30E, MDB&M) at a speed greater than ten miles per hour.
