4-7.1201 - Permit Required.

It shall be unlawful for any person, firm or corporation to use or permit to be used any type of lights commonly designated as searchlights for the purpose of advertising, or for any other purpose, without first securing a separate written permit from the Chief of Police for each such location at which a searchlight is desired to be used or operated. This section shall not apply to any governmental agency.

4-7.1202 - Operating Regulations.

Any searchlight operated within the City shall comply with the following regulations:

(a) Searchlights shall not be operated so as to constitute a traffic hazard or a nuisance;

(b) Searchlights shall be so operated so as to avoid directing the beam at any building; and

(c) Searchlights shall be so operated that the beam is not displayed at an angle greater than forty-five (45) degrees from the perpendicular.

4-7.1203 - Revocation of Permit.

Any permit issued by the Chief of Police may be revoked by him at any time in the event he finds that the owner or operator thereof has failed to operate the same in accordance with the provisions of this article.

4-7.1204 - Application for Permit.

Any person desiring to operate or use a searchlight in the City shall file with the Chief of Police an application therefor on forms to be provided by said Chief of Police. Said application shall contain the following information:

(a) The name and address of the person making application;

(b) The location at which it is desired to use or operate a searchlight;

(c) The period for which a permit is desired;

(d) The hours during which the searchlight to be operated; and

(e) The name of the person who will be in charge of operating the searchlight.

4-7.1205 - Fees.

The fees for searchlight application permits shall be in an amount as established by resolution adopted from time to time by the City Council.

Such fee shall be in addition to any other licenses or fees required by any other law of the City.
