I-200-1.00 - General Municipal Election Date

Pursuant to the provisions of Section 36503.5 of the Government Code of the State of California, all general municipal elections for the City of Milpitas shall hereafter be held on the same day as the state-wide general election.

I-200-2.00 - Term of Office

Pursuant to sub-section (d) of said Section 36503.5 of the Government Code, those City officers whose terms of office would have, prior to the adoption of this Chapter, expired on the Tuesday succeeding the second Tuesday in April of an even number year, shall, instead, continue in their office until no later than the fourth Tuesday after the date of the general municipal election and until their successors are elected and qualified, provided, however, that no term of office shall be increased or decreased more than 10 months in consequence thereof.

I-200-3.00 - Effective Date

This Chapter shall become effective upon the approval of the Board of Supervisors. Within 30 days after the effective date of this Chapter, the City Clerk shall cause a notice to be mailed to all registered voters informing the voters in the change of the election date and that as a result in the change of the election date, elected City office holders terms of office will be changed.
