§ 11.16.010. County Roads.

A. Section 35707 of the California Vehicle Code provides the definition of what constitutes an improved County road. Those County roads which do not meet the definition of an improved County road are therefore deemed to be unimproved County roads.

B. Section 35706 of the California Vehicle Code further provides that the Board of Supervisors may, by ordinance, reduce the permissible weight of vehicles and loads upon unimproved County roads, in their respective counties.

C. By the preceding definition, the following described roads are deemed unimproved County roads and it is unlawful for any vehicle to be driven, operated, propelled, or otherwise used upon these roads, having a gross weight in excess of the amounts herein provided. Signs indicating the maximum weight established in this section shall be erected at all entrances to said roads.

§ 11.16.020. County Bridges.

A. Section 35706 of the California Vehicle Code, provides that the Board of Supervisors may, by ordinance, reduce the permissible weight of vehicles and loads upon County bridges.

B. It is unlawful for any vehicle to be driven, operated, propelled, or otherwise used upon the following County bridges, having a gross weight in excess of the amount herein provided. Signs indicating the maximum weight fixed in this section shall be erected on each approach to said bridges.

  1. An 18 foot long wooden bridge located on Arena Way, approximately 30 feet south of White Crane Road, which spans Merced Irrigation District's Dallas Lateral. Maximum load limit: Three tons.

§ 11.16.030. Violation—Penalty.

Any person, firm, or corporation violating any of the provisions of this chapter is guilty of a misdemeanor and shall be subject to the penalties set forth in Chapter 1.28 of the Merced County Code.
