4-3.201 - Scope.¶
For the purposes of Articles 3 through 17 of this chapter, unless otherwise apparent from the context, certain words and phrases used in said articles are defined in this article.

4-3.202 - Vehicle Code definitions.¶
Whenever any words or phrases used in Articles 3 through 17 of this chapter are not defined, but are defined in the Vehicle Code of the State, such definitions shall apply.

4-3.203 - Coach.¶
"Coach" shall mean any motor bus, motor coach, trackless trolley, or passenger stage used as a common carrier of passengers.

4-3.204 - Curb.¶
"Curb" shall mean the lateral boundary of the roadway, whether such curb shall be marked by curbing construction or shall not be so marked. "Curb" shall not include the line dividing the roadway of a street from parking strips in the center of a street, nor from tracks or rights-of-way of public utility companies.

4-3.205 - Divisional island.¶
"Divisional island" shall mean a raised island located in the roadway and separating opposing or conflicting streams of traffic.

4-3.206 - Holidays.¶
"Holidays" shall mean:
(a) Every Sunday;
(b) January 1;
(c) February 12;
(d) February 22;
(e) May 30;
(f) July 4;
(g) The first Monday in September;
(h) September 9;
(i) October 12;
(j) November 11;
(k) Thanksgiving Day; and
(l) December 25.
Effective January 1, 1971, the holidays set forth in subsections (d), (e), (i), and (j) of this section shall be amended to read as follows:
(d) The third Monday in February;
(e) The last Monday in May;
(i) The second Monday in October; and
(j) The fourth Monday in October.

4-3.207 - Loading zone.¶
"Loading zone" shall mean the space adjacent to a curb reserved for the exclusive use of vehicles during the loading or unloading of passengers or materials.

4-3.208 - Official time standard.¶
Whenever certain hours are named in this chapter, they shall mean standard time or daylight saving time as may be in current use in the City.

4-3.209 - Parkway.¶
"Parkway" shall mean that portion of a street other than a roadway or a sidewalk.

4-3.210 - Parking meter.¶
"Parking meter" shall mean a mechanical device installed within or upon the curb or sidewalk area, immediately adjacent to a parking space, for the purpose of controlling the period of time of occupancy of such parking meter space by any vehicle.

4-3.211 - Passenger loading zone.¶
"Passenger loading zone" shall mean the space adjacent to a curb reserved for the exclusive use of vehicles during the loading or unloading of passengers.

4-3.212 - Pedestrian.¶
"Pedestrian" shall mean any person afoot.

4-3.213 - Police officer.¶
"Police officer" shall mean every officer of the Police Department and any other officer authorized to direct or regulate traffic or to make arrests for violations of traffic provisions.

4-3.214 - Stop.¶
"Stop", when required, shall mean complete cessation of movement.

4-3.215 - Vehicle Code.¶
"Vehicle Code" shall mean the Vehicle Code of the State.
