6.24.010 Fowl Permitted In R And RM Residential Districts

Fowl are not considered household pets; however, fowl are routinely kept by hobbyists for a variety of reasons, including household egg production. Up to five total fowl from the list below are permitted to be kept within all R and RM residential districts where lot density does not exceed one dwelling unit per five thousand square feet of lot area. Conditional use permit approval is required to keep more than five fowl in the R and RM residential districts.

Pigeons;

Doves;

Chickens (hens only).

6.24.020 Containment Of Fowl In R And RM Residential Districts

All fowl shall be contained in cages, hutches, coops, or similar structures within R and RM residential districts. Said cages, hutches, coops, or similar structures shall be located only in the rear yard in the R and RM residential districts.
