6.20.010 Permitted Household Pets

Household pets are animals kept primarily for companionship or protection, as opposed to working animals, sport animals, livestock, and laboratory animals, which are kept primarily for performance, agricultural value, or research. The household pets listed herein are permitted to be kept in all residential districts.

Dogs: Up to four dogs aged four months or older may be kept. Litters of puppies are exempt from the maximum number of permitted dogs until the puppies reach four months of age, at which time the maximum number of total dogs shall not exceed four.

Domesticated cats.

Caged, small birds.

Rodents, including rabbits, hamsters, chinchillas, gerbils, guinea pigs, and similar rodents.

Reptiles, including turtles, lizards, snakes, and similar reptiles.

Fish.
