§ 8.20.010. Notice—Required.¶
No person or persons, corporation or corporations, either as owners, carrier, agent, factor, broker, servant or employee shall bring or cause to be brought for any purpose into Lassen County, from any district, county, state or foreign country any bees or bee-hives containing any bee products, without giving notice of their arrival within twenty-four hours thereafter to the bee inspector; or sell, expose for sale, give away, remove or cause to be removed any of the bees, until the notice shall have been given to the bee inspector.

§ 8.20.020. Inspection—Payment responsibility.¶
On receiving the notification as required in Section 8.20.010, the inspector receiving the notice shall, as soon as possible, carefully inspect the articles relative to which the notice was served, and the owner shall pay all expenses of inspection.

§ 8.20.030. Notice—Contents.¶
Notice as referred to in this chapter must be given by person or by depositing in the post office a letter with sufficient postage and plainly addressed to the bee inspector of Lassen County.
This notice must state the name of the consignor and consignee, the place from which removed and the place to which the articles mentioned in Section 8.20.010 are to be moved or kept, and the number of hives, colonies, and parcels so received or proposed to be removed.

§ 8.20.040. Removal or destruction of diseased.¶
If upon a careful inspection by the inspector, any of the articles mentioned in Section 8.20.010 shall be found to be infested or infected with any disease detrimental or injurious to bees or the product thereof, such bees, bee-hives or bee products while contained in the bee hives, so found to be infested or infected shall be removed from the limits of the county, within forty-eight hours thereafter at the expense of the owner, agent or shipper or shall be destroyed. The owner, agent or shipper shall have the right to elect as to the removal from the county or to have the same destroyed under the direction of the county bee inspector.

§ 8.20.050. Quarantine—Purpose.¶
Whenever the bee inspector shall deem it necessary for the safety of the bee interests of the county, he may hold quarantine or cause to be held for a subsequent inspection or disinfection or both, any bees, bee hives, or bee products within the county for such a length of time as in his judgment is necessary, not to exceed sixty days.

§ 8.20.060. Identification label.¶
Any person or persons, corporation or corporations, who shall ship or bring or cause to be shipped or brought into this county any of the articles mentioned in Section 8.20.010 shall have placed upon, or securely attached to each box, bee hive or parcel containing bees a distinct mark or label, showing the name of the owner agent or shipper and the place from whence shipped.

§ 8.20.070. Quarantine—Required when.¶
It shall be the duty of the bee inspector, on being informed of the existence of any disease known as the American foul brood, European foul brood or black brood or paralysis or any other contagious or infectious disease of bees, existing in any other state, district, territory or foreign country, to declare a strict quarantine against importation of or bringing into Lassen County any of the articles mentioned in Section 8.20.010, for such length of time and in such manner as shall be necessary to determine whether the articles are infected with any contagious disease.
The bee inspector shall have the power and authority when he knows or suspects any of the articles mentioned in Section 8.20.010 to have come from any place outside of Lassen County, where any of the aforesaid diseases are known to exist, to cause these articles to be immediately or securely detained until such a time as he may be satisfied that these articles are not infected with any contagious disease.
