Laguna Beach Municipal Code Ch. 2.41 Division of Municipal Transit

There is established a division of municipal transit in the public works department.

There is created the position of superintendent of transit of the city.

The superintendent of transit shall be appointed by the city manager, and the superintendent shall exercise control of the division of transit subject to the supervision and approval of the director of public works. In the absence of appointment of a superintendent, the director of public works shall act as superintendent.

The duties of the superintendent of transit of the city shall be as follows:

(1) Supervise the preparation of bus schedules;

(2) Regulate the operation of buses and the working hours of operators;

(3) Supervise the activities of all transit employees;

(4) Supervise servicing, maintenance, and repair work on transit equipment;

(5) Make studies and recommendations to the director of public works and the city manager on fare structures, zone limits, modifications, extensions or reductions of routes, and charter service;

(6) Subject to approval of the city manager and city council, determines routes, schedules, time points, work runs, schedule speeds for the entire system;

(7) Supervise administrative and clerical work and prepare division budget;

(8) Such other duties as the city manager or director of public works may from time to time assign to the superintendent.
