§ 3.28.010. Nepotism.

A. No person related to any council member, the city manager, or any department head as spouse or child shall be appointed to any city office or hired for employment with the city while the council member, city manager or department head to whom the person is related is serving in that position.

B. This section shall operate prospectively only and shall not affect any individual who is in an appointive city office or employment with the city at the time of the adoption of this prohibition. Nor shall this section affect any person who is an appointive city office or employment with the city when that person's spouse or child thereafter becomes a council member, the city manager or a department head.

C. For purposes of this section, "hire" shall mean any commencement of compensated appointive office or employment, including re-employment or re-appointment of any former city employee or appointee and any change of an employee from part-time to full-time status or position.
