§ 7.08.010. Defined.

For the purposes of this chapter, the term “intoxicating liquor” means and includes any alcoholic beverage containing more than one-half of one percent of alcohol by volume, and all kinds of spirituous, vinous and malt liquors.

§ 7.08.020. Consumption in public places.

It is unlawful for any person to drink or consume any intoxicating liquor in or upon any public street, sidewalk or alley, or in or upon any public school grounds within the corporate limits of the city.

§ 7.08.030. Possession or consumption in designated public places.

It is unlawful for any person to consume any intoxicating liquor or to have in his or her possession an open container of intoxicating liquor in or upon any public street, sidewalk, alley, vacant lot or parking lot within an area one thousand feet wide, being five hundred feet north of Broadway and five hundred feet south of Broadway, and extending from Franciscan Way and the King City Cemetery easterly to First Street, and an area bounded by South Second Street, Pearl Street and South First Street, all as shown on the map attached to the ordinance codified in this chapter and found on file in the office of the city clerk marked “Exhibit A.”

§ 7.08.040. Possession or consumption in city park or city recreation…

(a) It is unlawful for any person to consume any intoxicating liquor or to have in his or her possession an open container of intoxicating liquor in any city park or city recreational facility, except as set forth in subsection (b) of this section.

(b) Permission may be granted for the consumption of alcoholic beverages in a city park or recreation facility at authorized events if the individual or group sponsoring such an event has obtained prior approval from the King City police department. In order to obtain the permit, the sponsor shall provide the police department with the number of persons attending the event, the time and date of the event, the location of the event, and the name and address of the person or persons responsible for the event.

§ 7.08.050. Violation—Penalty.

Violation of any section in this chapter shall constitute an infraction, punishable as provided in Section 1.04.010 of this code.
