§ 7.50.010. Definitions.

For purposes of this chapter the following definitions apply:

“Burglar alarm”

means and includes any burglary, robbery, and intrusion alarm used to detect an unauthorized entry into a building, structure or facility, or to signal the commission of an unlawful act, or both, and when activated emits a sound or transmits a signal to indicate that an emergency situation exists as to which police are expected to respond.

“False burglar alarm”

means a burglar alarm signal activated by reasons not of an emergency nature, and includes a signal activated by a malfunction of any segment of the alarm system, and which results in a response by the King City police department where an emergency situation does not exist.

§ 7.50.020. Service charges.

(a) A person shall not knowingly turn in a false burglar alarm. Provided, however, that this section shall not prohibit a test of a burglar alarm system as permitted in advance by the King City police department.

(b) In any twelve month period any residential, commercial or industrial premises which have two or more false alarms in said period shall be subject to payment of administrative fines as follows:

(1) For the third false alarm in a given twelve months’ period, two hundred dollars;

(2) For the fourth false alarm in a given twelve months’ period, three hundred dollars;

(3) For the fifth false alarm in a given twelve months’ period, four hundred dollars;

(4) For each false alarm in excess of five in a given twelve months’ period, five hundred dollars.

(c) The foregoing charges shall not apply to any premises where one or more of the occupants is disabled. All disabled persons are exempt from these administrative fines.
