10.04.010 - Definitions.¶
A. The words and phrases set forth in this chapter, when used in this title, shall for the purpose of this title have the meanings respectively ascribed to them in this chapter.
B. Wherever any words or phrases used in this title are not defined in this chapter, but are now defined in the Vehicle Code of the state, such definitions are incorporated in this title and shall be applied to such words and phrases used in this title as though set forth in this chapter in full.

10.04.020 - Loading zone.¶
Loading zone" means the space adjacent to a curb reserved for the exclusive use of vehicles during the loading and unloading of passengers or materials.

10.04.030 - Official time standard.¶
Whenever certain hours are named in this title, they mean standard time or daylight saving time as may be in current use in the city.

10.04.040 - Official traffic-control devices.¶
"Official traffic-control devices" means all signs, signals, markings and devices, not inconsistent with this title, placed or erected by authority of a public body or official having jurisdiction for the purpose of regulating, warning or guiding traffic.

10.04.050 - Official traffic signal.¶
"Official traffic signal" means any device, whether manually, electrically or mechanically operated, by which traffic is alternately directed to stop and proceed and which is erected by authority of a public body or official having jurisdiction.

10.04.060 - Park.¶
"Park" means to stand or leave standing any vehicle, whether occupied or not, otherwise than temporarily for the purpose of and while actually engaged in loading or unloading of passengers or materials.

10.04.070 - Parkway.¶
"Parkway" means that portion of a street other than a roadway or a sidewalk.

10.04.080 - Passenger loading zone.¶
"Passenger loading zone" means the space adjacent to a curb reserved for the exclusive use of vehicles during the loading or unloading of passengers.

10.04.090 - Police department and police officer.¶
"Police department and police officer" includes when applicable, the county sheriff's department and the California Highway Patrol and the officers thereof, respectively.

10.04.100 - Stop.¶
"Stop," when required, means complete cessation of movement.

10.04.110 - Stop or stand.¶
"Stop or stand," when prohibited, means any stopping or standing of a vehicle, whether occupied or not, except when necessary to avoid conflict with other traffic or in compliance with the directions of a police officer or official traffic-control device.

10.04.120 - Traffic.¶
"Traffic" means pedestrians, ridden or herded animals, vehicles and other conveyances, either singly or together, while using any street for purposes of travel.
