2.20.010 - Penal code requirements accepted.

A. The City of Huron declares that it desires to qualify to receive aid from the State of California under the provisions of Section 13522, Chapter 1, of Title 4, Part 4, of the California Penal Code.

B. Pursuant to Section 13510(c), Chapter 1, the Huron police department will adhere to standards for recruitment and training established by the California Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST).

C. Pursuant to Section 13512, Chapter 1, the Commission and its representatives may make such inquiries as deemed appropriate by the Commission to ascertain that the Huron police department's public safety dispatcher personnel adhere to standards for selection and training established by the Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training.

2.20.020 - Designation of reserve or auxiliary officers as peace officers.

No person shall be hired, employed or appointed as a reserve officer of the Huron Police Department, unless that person certifies to the satisfaction of the chief of police that the person has undergone the basic training requirement for peace officers prescribed by the commission on peace officer standards and training. Every person employed, hired or appointed as a reserve or auxiliary police officer is designated pursuant to Penal Code § 830.6(a)(2) as a peace officer possessing the full powers and duties of a peace officer as provided for by Penal Code § 830.1 and as Level I Reserve Officers pursuant to the provisions of Penal Code § 832.6(a)(1).
