§ 2-11.101. Required—Form.

All officers, full-time employees, and all members of all boards, commissions or committees of the City shall take and subscribe the following oath or affirmation within 30 days from date of appointment:

"I, __________, do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States and the Constitution of the State of California against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the Constitution of the United States and the Constitution of the State of California; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties upon which I am about to enter.

§ 2-11.102. Failure to take oath.

Any member of any board, commission or committee of the City who has not taken and subscribed the oath or affirmation as set forth in § 2-11.101, within 30 days of their appointment, shall be disqualified from the appointment.

§ 2-11.103. Severability.

If any section, subsection, sentence, clause, phrase or portion of this chapter is for any reason held invalid or unconstitutional by the decision of any court of competent jurisdiction, such decision shall not affect the validity of the remaining portions of this chapter. The City Council hereby declares that it would have adopted this chapter and each section, subsection, sentence, clause, phrase or portion thereof, irrespective of the fact that any one or more sections, subsections, phrases or portions be declared invalid or unconstitutional.
