Sections: Functions of the Planning and Building Department. Staff, Supplies and Office Space Prescribed by Board. Director of Planning and Building. Planning Commission Staff Support. 247-1. Functions of the Planning and Building Department. (a) There is hereby created a Planning and Building Department of the County of Humboldt under the direction and control of the Board of Supervisors. Said department, along with the Zoning Administrator are part of and serve to support the Planning Commission, which is the County’s designated planning agency. The Planning and Building Department shall perform those duties and exercise those powers delegated to it by the Planning and Zoning Law and other acts of the legislature as well as such other powers and duties as may be delegated to it by the Board of Supervisors. (b) The Planning and Building Department shall be charged with the enforcement and administration of all laws, ordinances and policies regarding planning and building, including the erection, construction and alteration of buildings and the regulation of land uses, zoning, subdivision and surface mining. The Department shall have the duty of maintaining Board adopted land use plans, building regulations and associated administrative procedures including issuing any and all building and planning permits which are or may hereafter be required and of making any and all inspections which may be incidental thereto. The Board of Supervisors may provide such personnel, office space and budget items as it deems necessary for said Planning and Building Department, with the salaries and duties of such personnel to be prescribed by the Board of Supervisors. The Department of Planning and Building shall be under the supervision of a Department Head to be known as the Director of Planning and Building, who shall be employed by the Board of Supervisors. The Director of Planning and Building shall perform those duties and exercise those powers delegated to him/her by the Planning and Zoning Law and other acts of the legislature, and such other powers and duties as may be delegated by the Board of Supervisors. (Ord. 2479, § 2, 5/15/2012) 247-4. Planning Commission Staff Support. The Department of Planning and Building shall provide staff support to the Planning Commission. The Director of Planning and Building shall serve as administrative secretary to the Planning Commission and shall receive copies of all minutes, reports and recommendations submitted to the Board of Supervisors by the Commission. The Director, or a representative designee, shall attend all meetings of the Planning Commission. (Ord. 2479, § 2, 5/15/ 2012)
