2.12.010 - Office created—Appointment and responsibility—Delegation of certain duties.

The office of city traffic engineer is established. The city traffic engineer shall be appointed by the City Manager and he or she shall exercise the powers and duties as provided in this chapter and in other traffic ordinances of the city. Whenever the city traffic engineer is required or authorized to place or maintain official traffic control devices or signals, the city traffic engineer may cause such devices or signals to be placed or maintained by the director of public works.

2.12.020 - Duties generally.

The following shall be the general duties of the city traffic engineer:

A. To determine the installation and proper timing and maintenance of traffic control devices and signals;

B. To conduct engineering analyses of traffic accidents and to devise remedial measures;

C. To conduct engineering and traffic investigations of traffic conditions and to cooperate with other city officials in the development of ways and means to improve traffic conditions;

D. To carry out the additional powers and duties imposed by this code and other ordinances of the city.
