10.24.010 - Areas where stopping, standing or parking prohibited at all times.

The city traffic engineer may appropriately sign or mark the following places and when so signed or marked, no person shall stop, stand or park a vehicle within any of such places:

A. Generally.

  1. Any place described and designated by resolution of the city council upon recommendation of the city traffic engineer that parking in such location creates a traffic hazard;

  2. Any place within 20 feet of a point on the curb immediately opposite any mid-block end of a safety zone;

  3. Any place within 20 feet of a crosswalk at an intersection in the central traffic district or in any business district; except that a bus may stop at a designated bus stop;

  4. Within 20 feet of the approach to any traffic signal, boulevard stop sign or official electric flashing device;

  5. Ten feet either side of any fire hydrant in the city.

B. Named Streets.

  1. Along State Route 156 in any of the following locations:

a. On the north side of State Route 156, beginning at a point that is 874 feet easterly of the extension of the west right-of-way line of Rajkovich Way, thence running westerly to the east right-of-way line of Graf Road for a distance of 2,908 feet, more or less,

b. On the south side of State Route 156, beginning at a point that is 649 feet easterly of the west right-of-way line of Rajkovich Way, thence running westerly to the east property line of the property known as "Fast Gas," 1615 San Juan Road, for a distance of 2,054 feet, more or less;

  1. Fremont Way from the east right-of-way line of San Benito Street easterly 70 feet more or less to the end of the driveway entrance to the parking lot for 335 San Benito Street (the Poletti Building);

  2. Along Memorial Drive in any of the following locations:

a. On the east side of Memorial Drive, beginning at a point that is 60 feet north of the centerline of Sunnyslope Road, thence running northerly for a distance of 600 feet, more or less,

b. On the west side of Memorial Drive, beginning at a point that is 60 feet north of the centerline of Sunnyslope Road, thence running northerly for a distance of 415 feet, more or less;

  1. On the north side of Fourth Street, also known as State Highway Route 156, beginning at a point that is 249 feet west of the center line of Monterey Street, thence running westerly for a distance of 24 feet, more or less;

  2. On the east side of McCray Street beginning at a point that is 50 feet south of the center line of Santa Ana Road, thence running southerly for a distance of two thousand six hundred ninety-four (2,694) feet, more or less;

  3. On the west side of McCray Street beginning at a point that is 376 feet north of the center line of Third Street, thence running southerly for a distance of 700 feet, more or less;

  4. On the north side of Meridian Street beginning at a point that is 85 feet east of the center line on McCray Street, thence running easterly for a distance of 4,966 feet, more or less;

  5. On the south side of Meridian Street beginning at a point that is 118 feet east of the center line of McCray Street, thence running easterly for a distance of 3,854 feet, more or less;

  6. On the south side of Meridian Street beginning at a point that is 130 feet west of the center line on Memorial Drive, thence running easterly for a distance of 70 feet, more or less;

  7. On the east side of Chappell Road beginning at a point that is 48 feet south of the center line of Alvarado Street, thence running southerly for a distance of 575 feet, more or less;

  8. On the north side of Fourth Street beginning at a point that is 90 feet east of the center line of Sally Street, thence running easterly for a distance of 120 feet, more or less;

  9. On the north side of Fourth Street beginning at a point that is 56 feet east of the center line of Sally Street, thence running easterly for a distance of 174 feet, more or less;

  10. On the east side of Airline Highway also known as State Highway Route 25 beginning at a point that is 60 feet north of the center line of Sunset Drive, thence running northerly for a distance of 1,591 feet, more or less;

  11. On the west side of Airline Highway also known as State Highway Route 25 beginning at a point that is 60 feet north of the center line of Sunset Drive, thence running northerly for a distance of 1,727 feet, more or less;

  12. On the north side of Sunset Drive beginning at a point that is 75 feet west of the center line of Airline Highway also known as State Highway Route 25, thence running westerly for a distance of 440 feet, more or less;

  13. On the south side of Sunset Drive beginning at a point that is 75 feet west of the center line of Airline Highway also known as State Highway Route 25, thence running westerly for a distance of 474 feet, more or less;

  14. On the east side of Hillock Drive beginning at a point that is 100 feet north of the center line of Sunset Drive, thence running northerly for a distance of 1,310 feet, more or less;

  15. On the west side of Hillock Drive beginning at a point that is 60 feet north of the center line of Sunset Drive, thence running northerly for a distance of 1,395 feet, more or less;

  16. On the north side of Nash Road/Tres Pinos Road beginning at a point that is 115 feet west of the center line of Prospect Avenue, thence running westerly for a distance of 3,109 feet, more or less, to the east right-of-way line of San Benito Street;

  17. On the south side of Nash Road/Tres Pinos Road beginning at a point that is 40 feet east of the east right-of-way line of San Benito Street and thence running easterly for a distance of 3,225 feet more or less, to the west right-of-way line of Airline Highway;

  18. On the south side of Hillcrest Road beginning at a point that is 57 feet west of the center line of Fairview Road, thence running westerly for a distance of 1,531 feet, more or less;

  19. On the west side of Beverly Drive beginning at a point that is 57 feet south of the center line of Hillcrest Road, thence running southerly for a distance of 926 feet, more or less;

  20. On the east side of Beverly Drive beginning at a point that is 67 feet south of the center line of Hillcrest Road, thence running southerly for a distance of 916 feet, more or less;

  21. On the east side of San Felipe Road, also known as State Highway Route Nos. 25/156, beginning at a point that is 51 feet south of the center line of Maple Street, thence running southerly for a distance of 140 feet, more or less;

  22. On the east side of San Felipe Road, also known as State Highway Route Nos. 25/156, beginning at a point that is 44 feet north of the center line of Maple Street, thence running northerly for a distance of 899 feet, more or less;

  23. On the north side of Sunnyslope Road, beginning at a point that is 50 feet west of the center line of Memorial Drive, thence running westerly for a distance of 10,910 feet, more or less;

  24. On the south side of Sunnyslope Road, beginning at a point that is 50 feet west of the center line of Memorial Drive, thence running westerly for a distance of 1,800 feet, more or less;

  25. On the south side of Hillcrest Road beginning at a point that is 59 feet east of the center line of Industrial Drive, thence running easterly for a distance of 2,145 feet, more or less;

  26. On the north side of Fourth Street, also known as State Highway Route No. 156, beginning at a point that is 96 feet west of the center line of Line Street, and thence running westerly 175 feet, more or less;

  27. On the south side of Hill Street beginning at a point that is 40 feet west of the center line of San Benito Street (State Highway Route Nos. 25/156), thence running westerly for a distance of 26 feet, more or less;

  28. The west and east side of Rajkovich Way 143 feet north of the centerline of Wilma Drive, thence running northerly for a distance of 260 feet, more or less;

  29. On the south side of Fourth Street 30 feet west of the centerline of Monterey Street, thence running westerly for a distance of 64 feet, more or less;

  30. On the west side of Rancho Drive 62 feet north of the centerline of Nash Road also known as State Highway Route No. 25, thence running northerly for a distance of 75 feet, more or less;

  31. Along Santa Ana Road in any of the following locations:

a. On the south side of Santa Ana Road beginning at a point that is 90 feet east of the centerline of Airline Highway (SR 25 Bypass), thence running easterly for a distance of 570 feet, more or less,

b. On the south side of Santa Ana Road beginning at the city limit line at the east property line of Gabilan Hills Elementary School, thence running westerly for a distance of 720 feet, more or less,

c. On the south side of Santa Ana Road beginning at a point that is 80 feet west of the centerline of Airline Highway (SR 25 Bypass), thence running westerly for a distance of 475 feet, more or less;

  1. Along both the east side and west side of Ladd Lane beginning at a point that is 82 feet south of the center line intersection of Tres Pinos Road, thence running to and ending at a point 52 feet south of the centerline of Talbot Drive;

  2. Along both the east side and west side of Ladd Lane beginning at a point that is 53 feet north of the centerline intersection of Southside Road, thence running northerly for a distance of 130 feet, more or less;

  3. Along the west side of Miller Road beginning 60 feet north of the centerline of San Juan Hollister Road, thence running northerly for a distance of 110 feet, more or less;

  4. The north and south side of Briggs Alley between Sally Street and East Street;

  5. The east side of Prospect Avenue beginning 32 feet north of the centerline of East Park Street, thence running northerly for a distance of 1,385 feet, more or less.

10.24.020 - Areas where stopping, standing or parking prohibited except for loading and unloading.

Except for the purposes of loading and unloading passengers, cargo or materials, no person shall stop, stand or park a vehicle in any of the following places:

A. On Sally Street between the north line of Hawkins Street and the south line of the Southern Pacific Railroad right-of-way;

B. On south side of Second Street between the east line of East Street and the west line of Sally Street;

C. On east side of East Street between the south line of Second Street and north line of the Southern Pacific Railroad right-of-way;

D. On the west side of East Street, beginning at a point that is 109 feet south of the center line of Fourth Street and thence running southerly for a distance of 64 feet, more or less.

10.24.030 - More than ten-minute parking in central traffic district during certain hours prohibited.

No person shall stop, stand or park any vehicle on any street, alley or municipal parking lot in the central traffic district for a period of time longer than ten minutes between the hours of 3:00 a.m. and 5:00 a.m. of any day.

10.24.040 - Parking time restrictions on certain streets.

A. Whenever any ordinance or resolution of this city restricts the parking time of any vehicle on any street or portion thereof, or any lot, and signs are in place giving notice thereof, no person shall stop, stand or park any vehicle for a period of time longer than as permitted by such ordinance or resolution and as indicated by such signs at any time between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. of any day except Sundays and holidays.

B. One-Hour Parking. The streets for one-hour parking shall be as follows:

  1. The west side of East Street beginning at the south line of South Street and thence running southerly to a point 200 feet, more or less;

  2. Both sides of Hawkins Street between San Benito Street and East Street;

  3. The north side of Hawkins Street beginning at the west line of San Benito Street and running westerly to a point 75 feet, more or less; The south side of Hawkins Street beginning at a point that is 33 feet east of the center line of East Street and thence running easterly 145 feet, more or less;

  4. The west side of East Street beginning at a point that is 40 feet south of the center line of Hawkins Street and thence running 80 feet, more or less;

  5. The east side of East Street beginning at a point that is 62 feet south of the center line and thence running 64 feet, more or less;

  6. The east side of East Street beginning at a point that is 62 feet south of the center line and thence running 64 feet, more or less.

C. Notwithstanding the generality of subsection A of this section, no person shall stop, stand or park any vehicle in the following portions of the central traffic district between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. of any day except Sunday and holidays for a period of time longer than 3:00 hours on city streets in the central traffic district.

D. Parking Restricted for Refuse Collection. Notwithstanding the generality of subsection A of this section, no person shall stop, stand or park any vehicle for a period of time longer than as permitted by posted signs in the following streets to allow refuse collection:

  1. Fremont Way between Mapleton Avenue and Towne Alley;

  2. Towne Alley between Fremont Way and Central Avenue;

  3. Hodges Alley between Fremont Way and Central Avenue.

E. Three-Hour Parking. The streets for three-hour parking shall be as follows:

  1. The west side of Sunset Drive beginning at a point that is 150 feet north of the center line of Southside Road, thence running northerly for a distance of 250 feet, more or less;

  2. Along both the east side and west side of Ladd Lane beginning at a point that is 52 feet south of the centerline of Talbot Drive and ending at a point that is 183 feet northerly of the centerline intersection of Southside Road;

  3. Along the south side of Santa Ana Road beginning at a point that is 55 feet east of the center line of La Baig Drive, thence continuing easterly 605 feet, more or less;

  4. The south side of Flora Avenue beginning at the west side of San Felipe Road thence running westerly to the west end, 805 feet, more or less;

  5. Both sides of Gateway Drive beginning at the west side of San Felipe Road thence running westerly to the west end encompassing the cul-de-sac, 1,030 feet, more or less;

  6. Both sides of Maple Street beginning at the east side of San Felipe Road thence running easterly to the west side of Sally Street, 480 feet, more or less.

F. Three-hour parking between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. The streets for three-hour parking between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. Monday through Friday shall be as follows:

  1. The west side of Monterey Street beginning where the prolongation of the north side of Richardson right-of-way intersects the west side of Monterey Street, thence running 485 feet south, more or less.

10.24.050 - Parking on narrow streets.

A. The city traffic engineer is authorized to place signs or markings indicating no parking upon any street when the width of the roadway does not exceed 20 feet or upon one side of a street as indicated by such signs or markings when the width of the roadway does not exceed 30 feet.

B. When official signs or markings prohibiting parking are erected upon narrow streets as authorized in this section, no person shall park a vehicle upon any of the following streets in violation of any such sign or marking:

  1. On the southerly side of Locust Street, beginning at a point 126 feet northerly from the intersection of the north line of Central Avenue with the westerly line of Locust Street and to continue on the southerly side of Locust Street to a point 340 feet easterly from the intersection of the easterly line of College Street with the southerly line of Locust Street.
