10.12.010 - Speed limits in certain zones.

The speed limits set forth in this chapter and on the map attached to the ordinance codified in this chapter entitled "Speed Limit Map 2018" are based upon a current engineering and traffic survey, and are determined to be reasonable and safe, and most appropriate to facilitate the orderly movement of vehicular traffic in the city. The prima facie speed limit for these streets, or portions thereof, shall be as follows when signs are erected giving notice thereof:

A. Fifty-Five Miles Per Hour.

  1. San Felipe Road. That portion of San Felipe Road beginning at a point on the north right-of-way line of Chappell Road, thence running northerly along San Felipe Road for a distance of 10,500 feet, more or less, to the city limits line of the city.

B. Fifty Miles Per Hour.

  1. McCloskey Road. That portion of McCloskey Road beginning at a point on the east right-of-way line of San Felipe Road, thence running easterly along McCloskey Road for a distance of 980 feet, more or less, to the city limits line of the city.

C. Forty-Five Miles Per Hour.

  1. Fallon Road. That portion of Fallon Road beginning at a point on the east right-of-way line of San Felipe Road, thence running northeasterly along Fallon Road for a distance of 2,430 feet, more or less, to the city limits line of the city.

  2. Hillcrest Road. That portion of Hillcrest Road beginning at a point on the east right-of-way line of Pinnacle National Park Highway (SR 25), thence running easterly along Hillcrest Road for a distance of 1,800 feet, more or less, to the west right-of-way of Memorial Drive.

  3. Hillcrest Road. That portion of Hillcrest Road beginning at a point on the west right-of-way line of Fairview Road, thence running westerly along Hillcrest Road for a distance of 1,545 feet, more or less, to the city limits line of the city at Santa Ana Court.

  4. Ladd Lane. That portion of Ladd Lane beginning at a point on the south right-of-way line of Tres Pinos Road, thence running southerly along Ladd Lane for a distance of 3,225 feet, more or less, to the city limits of the city.

D. Forty Miles Per Hour.

  1. Fourth Street - San Juan Hollister Road. That portion of Fourth Street - San Juan Hollister Road beginning at a point on the west right-of-way line of Westside Boulevard, thence running westerly along Fourth Street - San Juan Hollister Road for a distance of 5,285 feet, more or less, to the city limits line of the city.

  2. Hillcrest Road. That portion of Hillcrest beginning at a point on the west right-of-way line of Memorial Drive, thence running easterly along Hillcrest Road for a distance of 750 feet, more or less, to the city limits line of the city at Busby Court.

  3. McCray Street. That portion of McCray Street beginning at a point on the south right-of-way line of Hillcrest Road, thence running southerly along McCray Street a distance of 1,850 feet, more or less, to the north right-of-way line of East Park Street.

  4. San Felipe Frontage Road. That portion of San Felipe Frontage Road beginning at a point on the north right-of-way line of McCloskey Road, thence running northerly along San Felipe Frontage Road for a distance of 6,030 feet, more or less, to the south right-of-way line of Fallon Road, except those portions of San Felipe Frontage Road within the unincorporated areas of San Benito County.

  5. Sunnyslope Road. That portion of Sunnyslope Road beginning at a point on the west right-of way line of Fairview Road, thence running easterly along Sunnyslope Road for a distance of 5,100 feet, more or less, to the east right-of-way line of Valley View Road except those portions of Sunnyslope Road within the unincorporated areas of San Benito County.

  6. Valley View Road. That portion of Valley View Road beginning at a point on the south right-of-way line of Sunnyslope Road, thence running southerly along Valley View Road for a distance of 4,072 feet, more or less, to the north right-of-way line of Union Road, except those portions within the unincorporated areas of San Benito County.

E. Thirty-Five Miles Per Hour.

  1. Beverly Drive. That portion of Beverly Drive beginning at a point on the south right-of-way line of Hillcrest Road for a distance of 2,750 feet, more or less, to the north right-of-way line of Sunnyslope Road.

  2. Buena Vista Road. That portion of Buena Vista Road beginning at a point on the west right-of-way line of Locust Avenue, thence running westerly along Buena Vista Road for a distance of 6,600 feet, more or less, to the westerly city limits line of the city, except those portions of Buena Vista Road within the unincorporated areas of San Benito County.

  3. Chappell Road. That portion of Chappell Road beginning at a point on the north right-of-way line of Santa Ana Road, thence running northerly along Chappell Road for a distance of 2,267 feet, more or less, to the city limits line of the city.

  4. Hillcrest Road. That portion of Hillcrest Road beginning at a point on the west right-of-way line of Prospect Avenue, thence running easterly along Hillcrest Road for a distance of 2,060 feet, more or less, to the west right-of-way line of Airline Highway (25 Bypass).

  5. McCray Street. That portion of McCray Street beginning at a point on the south right-of-way line of Santa Ana Road, thence running southerly along McCray Street a distance of 3,330 feet, more or less, to the north right-of-way line of Hillcrest Road.

  6. Memorial Drive. That portion of Memorial Drive beginning at a point on the south right-of-way line of Meridian Street, thence running southerly along Memorial Drive, a distance of 4,500 feet, more or less, to the north right-of-way line of Sunnyslope Road.

  7. Prospect Avenue. That portion of Prospect Avenue beginning at a point on the south right-of-way line of South Street, thence running southerly along Prospect Avenue for a distance of 760 feet, more or less, to the north right-of-way line of East Park Street.

  8. San Felipe Road (North Bound). That portion of San Felipe Road beginning at a point on the north right-of-way line of Santa Ana Road, thence running northerly along San Felipe Road for a distance of 3,100 feet, more or less, to the north right-of-way line of Pinnacle National Park Highway. (SR 25).

  9. Santa Ana Road. That portion of Santa Ana Road beginning at a point on the east right-of-way line of Chappell Road, thence running easterly along Santa Ana Road for a distance of 3,520 feet, more or less, to the city limits line of the city.

  10. Southside Road. That portion of Southside Road beginning at a point on the east right-of-way line of San Benito Street, thence running easterly along Southside Road for a distance of 4,000 feet, more or less, to the end of Southside Road east of Carousel Drive at the city limits line of the city.

  11. Sunnyslope Road. That portion of Sunnyslope Road beginning at a point on the east right-of-way line of State Highway Route No. 25 (Pinnacle Park Highway (SR 25)), thence running along Sunnyslope Road for a distance of 2,800 feet, more or less, to the east right-of-way of Valley View Road except those portions of Sunnyslope Road within the unincorporated areas of San Benito County.

  12. Sunset Drive. That portion of Sunset Drive beginning at a point on the southeast line of State Highway Route No. 25 (Airline Highway), thence running southeasterly along Sunset Drive for a distance of 1,970 feet, more or less, to the north right-of-way line of Southside Road.

  13. Tres Pinos Road. That portion of Tres Pinos Road beginning at a point on the west right-of-way line of Pinnacle National Park Highway (SR 25), thence running westerly for a distance of 700 feet, to the west right-of-way line of Rancho Drive.

  14. Union Road. That portion of Union Road beginning at a point on the east right-of-way line of Airline Highway (State Highway Route No. 25), thence running easterly along Union Road for a distance of 3,650 feet, more or less, to its easterly end at the city limits of the city.

  15. Westside Boulevard. That portion of Westside Boulevard beginning at a point on the south right-of-way line of Buena Vista Road, thence running southerly along Westside Boulevard for a distance of 6,100 feet, more or less, to the north right-of-way line of Nash Road.

F. Thirty Miles Per Hour.

  1. Fourth Street. That portion of Fourth Street beginning at a point on the west right-of-way line of West Street, thence running westerly along Fourth Street for a distance of 2,425 feet, more or less, to the west right-of-way line of Westside Boulevard.

  2. Meridian Street. That portion of Meridian Street beginning at a point on the east right-of-way line of McCray Street, thence running easterly along Meridian Street for a distance of 6,685 feet, more or less, to the west right-of-way of Clearview Drive.

  3. Nash Road. That portion of Nash Road beginning at a point on the west right-of-way line of Rancho Drive, thence running westerly along Nash Road, for a distance of 1,500 feet, to the east right-of-way of San Benito Street.

  4. San Benito Street. That portion of San Benito Street beginning at a point on the north right-of-way line of South Street, thence running southerly along San Benito Street for a distance of 7,500 feet, more or less, to Union Road, except those portions of San Benito Street within the unincorporated areas of San Benito County.

  5. Seventh Street. That portion of Seventh Street beginning at a point on the east right-of-way line of Line Street, thence running easterly along Seventh Street for a distance of 2,560 feet, more or less, to the west right-of-way line of Monterey Street.

G. Twenty-Five Miles Per Hour.

  1. Chappell Road. The portion of Chappell Road beginning at a point on the east right-of-way of San Felipe Road, thence running easterly along Chappell Road for a distance of 1,040 feet, more or less, to the city limits line of the city.

  2. Cienega Road. That portion of Cienega Road beginning at a point on the south right-of-way line of Nash Road, thence running southerly along Cienega Road to the south right-of-way line of Promise Way, except those portions of Cienega Road within the unincorporated areas of San Benito County.

  3. Line Street. That portion of Line Street beginning at a point on the south right-of-way line of South Street, thence running southerly along Line Street for a distance of 1,521 feet, more or less, to the north right-of-way line of Apricot Lane.

  4. Locust Avenue. That portion of Locust Avenue beginning at a point on the north right-of-way line of Central Avenue, thence running north along Locust Avenue for a distance of 1,250 feet, more or less, to the south right-of-way line of Vista Road.

  5. Memorial Drive. That portion of Memorial Drive beginning at a point on the north right-of-way line of Sunnyslope Road, thence running southerly along Memorial Drive, a distance of 1,450 feet, more or less, to the north right-of-way line of Sunset Drive.

  6. Nash Road. That portion of Nash Road beginning on the west right-of way line of West Street, thence running westerly along Nash Road for a distance of 2,910 feet, more or less, to the west right-of-way line of Westside Boulevard.

  7. Powell Street. That portion of Powell Street beginning at a point on the north right-of-way line of Central Avenue, thence running south along Powell Street for a distance of 5,120 feet, more or less, to the north right-of-way line of Nash Road.

  8. San Benito Street. That portion of San Benito Street beginning at a point on the north right-of-way line of North Street, thence running southerly along San Benito Street for a distance of 3,000 feet, more or less, to the north right-of-way line of South Street.

  9. San Felipe Road (South Bound). That portion of San Felipe Road beginning at a point on the north right-of-way line of Pinnacle National Park Hwy. (SR 25), thence running southerly along San Felipe Road for a distance of 3,100 feet, more or less, to the north right-of-way line of Santa Ana Road.

  10. Santa Ana Road. That portion of Santa Ana Road beginning at a point on the east right-of-way line of Chappell Road, thence running west along Santa Ana Road for a distance of 1,645 feet, more or less, to the east right-of-way line of San Felipe Road.

  11. Sunset Drive. That portion of Sunset Drive beginning at a point on the east right-of-way line of Pinnacle National Park Highway (SR 25), thence running northeasterly for a distance of 945 feet, more or less, to the west right-of-way line of Memorial Drive.
